easypaisa digital bank has entered into a strategic partnership with Transsion, one of the world’s largest smartphone manufacturers, aimed at making digital financial services more accessible to Pakistanis buying new smartphones. Under the agreement, the easypaisa app will come pre-installed on more than five million new smartphones across Transsion’s leading brands in Pakistan, including Infinix, TECNO, and itel, giving users access to digital banking services as soon as they activate their devices.
The partnership was formally signed by Farhan Hassan, Chief Digital Officer at easypaisa digital bank, and Michael Wang, Vice President of Global Partnerships at Transsion, in a ceremony held in Islamabad with senior representatives from both organizations in attendance. The initiative is built around Pakistan’s rising 3G and 4G device uptake, which now stands at 71.6 percent, and is aimed specifically at underserved and unbanked populations, many of whom are getting access to smartphones and mobile internet for the first time through affordable devices from Transsion’s brands.
Farhan Hassan said the partnership reflects easypaisa’s ongoing effort to make digital banking available at the point where consumers begin their digital journey, embedding financial services directly onto smartphones rather than requiring a separate download or signup step later. Muhammad Abdul Qadeer, Country Manager for Transsion Pakistan, said the collaboration combines technology, scale, and local market understanding, and that integrating a trusted digital financial service like easypaisa makes financial inclusion a natural part of the smartphone-buying experience for millions of new device owners each year.
The companies expect the pre-installation model to support customer acquisition, increase app penetration, and drive greater engagement with formal financial services among first-time smartphone users. easypaisa, one of the leading digital banks in Pakistan with more than 60 million registered users, said the initiative aligns with the State Bank of Pakistan’s broader push for inclusive economic growth, though no specific figures were shared on how many users the partnership is expected to bring into the formal financial system or over what timeframe the five million device rollout will be completed.
