Meta Resolves Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram Outage: Technical Issue Fixed

Meta has successfully resolved a “technical issue” that led to the temporary outage of Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram on Tuesday. For approximately two hours, hundreds of thousands of users worldwide encountered difficulties accessing these platforms.

Users attempting to log in or refresh their feeds were met with error messages, disrupting their usual browsing experience. Meta issued an apology to those affected and assured that the problem was addressed promptly.

According to tracking website Downdetector, the outages impacted multiple countries, highlighting the global reach of Meta’s platforms. With Facebook boasting three billion active monthly users and Instagram projected to reach 1.4 billion users worldwide this year, the significance of these platforms cannot be overstated.

Even Threads, Meta’s rival to Twitter launched in 2023, experienced disruptions during this period. Notably, WhatsApp, another platform owned by Meta, remained unaffected by the outage.

This incident marks another notable disruption for Meta, following a major outage in 2021 where Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram services were offline for nearly six hours.
