VYU, a Pakistan-based video-first fashion shopping platform, has launched in the local market with a model that combines livestream entertainment and online retail. The platform introduced its service through a six-hour livestream featuring veteran actress Bushra Ansari and digital content creators Ron and Coco. Scheduled for October 24 from 3 PM to 9 PM Pakistan time, the launch broadcast was set to run across VYU’s Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels. The event features fashion discussions, styling segments, creator appearances and live entertainment, allowing viewers to explore featured products while watching the programme. Co-founded by Farzana Sheikh and Afraz Siddiqui, VYU operates through The Shopping Stream and offers curated collections of clothing, footwear, handbags and accessories. Its launch introduces another approach to digital retail in Pakistan, where video content and online creators are being incorporated into the shopping experience to connect product discovery with purchasing.
VYU describes its model as “Entertainment Commerce,” an approach in which consumers can watch fashion content and buy featured products in real time. Instead of relying exclusively on conventional product listings and static photographs, the platform uses livestreams to present styles, discuss fashion choices and showcase merchandise through presenters and digital creators. This format allows viewers to discover products in the context of styling demonstrations and entertainment, with purchasing integrated into the experience. The approach builds on the growing role of social media in how consumers discover clothing and accessories, particularly when creators introduce products to audiences through video content. VYU aims to bring discovery and buying into one connected process, reducing the separation between watching fashion content and visiting an online store to complete a purchase. The company has not disclosed launch-day sales figures, registered customer numbers or the volume of participating fashion brands, so the commercial scale of its initial rollout remains unclear.
The platform’s launch also reflects a broader shift in ecommerce towards interactive formats that give consumers more ways to evaluate products before purchasing. Livestream shopping can allow presenters to demonstrate how clothing is styled, discuss product features and respond to audience interest during a broadcast. For fashion retailers, this model may provide another channel to introduce collections and engage potential customers beyond conventional advertising or product pages. For consumers, it can offer a more dynamic way to explore products, although the shopping experience will still depend on accurate product information, pricing transparency, delivery arrangements and return policies. VYU’s curated range covers several fashion categories, including clothing, footwear, handbags and accessories, positioning the platform around lifestyle retail rather than a single product segment. Its reliance on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube for the launch livestream also connects the shopping experience with established social platforms where audiences already consume video content. The company has not announced specific figures for merchant participation or explained whether additional livestream formats will follow a fixed schedule.
VYU’s co-founders have presented the platform as an effort to connect the way people discover fashion online with the process of buying it. Farzana Sheikh said shopping involves discovery and inspiration as well as purchasing, while Afraz Siddiqui noted that consumers already use videos and digital creators to explore fashion. The platform’s model seeks to combine these behaviours with a direct route to featured products. Consumers can visit the company’s online store at VYU Cart to explore its shopping offering, while further information about the business is available through its About page. The company’s long-term performance will depend on factors including customer adoption, product selection, the quality of livestream programming and the reliability of order fulfilment. Its entry adds a video-led format to Pakistan’s ecommerce market, with future sales and customer engagement figures likely to provide a clearer indication of how well livestream shopping converts audience interest into retail transactions.
