PSX Trains 80 Government Girls College Principals To Promote Financial Literacy And Investing

Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), in collaboration with the College Education Department of the Government of Sindh, has conducted a financial literacy and investing session for 80 principals of government girls’ colleges across Karachi. Organised under PSX’s She Invests Series, the initiative was designed to improve educators’ understanding of personal finance and investment fundamentals so they can share this knowledge with students. The session also included a dedicated Train-the-Teacher segment and was held in line with the Women Investor Forum theme of World Investor Week 2026, which focuses on promoting informed participation in financial markets. By working directly with college principals, PSX aims to extend investor education beyond a single event and encourage financial awareness among young women through educational institutions.

The session featured Mashal Khan, a financial influencer, who shared practical guidance on personal finance and investing. Her discussion covered key considerations for making informed financial decisions, including the dos and don’ts of investing. Such guidance can help participants understand the importance of evaluating investment options, considering potential risks and avoiding decisions based solely on speculation or unverified advice. The event also featured contributions from Obaid Rehman, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at PSX; Gulab Rai, Regional Director of Colleges in Karachi; and Dr. Muhammad Qasim Rajpar, Associate Professor at the College Education Department of the Government of Sindh. Their participation reflected collaboration between the stock exchange and the education sector to bring financial-market awareness into the learning environment. The announcement did not specify a detailed curriculum, assessment method or follow-up training schedule for participating principals.

The Train-the-Teacher component is central to the initiative because educators can share financial knowledge with a wider student population after the session. Introducing students to concepts such as saving, budgeting, investment risk, diversification and the functioning of capital markets can help them develop a foundation for managing money and evaluating financial choices. For young women, access to reliable information about investing may also help address gaps in financial awareness and confidence when considering formal investment opportunities. PSX’s She Invests Series is intended to encourage women’s participation in the capital market by making investment information more accessible. However, financial literacy does not mean that every student should immediately begin investing. Understanding personal financial circumstances, recognising the possibility of losses and distinguishing regulated investment services from misleading schemes remain important parts of responsible financial decision-making.

The initiative also supports broader efforts to build awareness of Pakistan’s capital market among people who may have limited exposure to formal investment education. PSX provides a platform through which investors can trade listed securities, while investor education can help individuals understand how markets operate and what they should consider before committing their money. The participation of government college principals offers a route for introducing these subjects into discussions with students, although the announcement did not confirm whether a formal curriculum or continuing school programme would follow. PSX thanked Gulab Rai and the College Education Department for their collaboration in delivering the session. The longer-term impact will depend on how participants use the information in their institutions and whether students receive opportunities to engage with practical financial education. By training 80 principals through the She Invests Series, PSX is seeking to extend investment awareness to more young women and encourage informed participation in Pakistan’s financial markets.
