OKX has launched OKX Money, a standalone financial app designed to bring digital-dollar savings, transfers and everyday spending together in a single platform. The service went live globally on October 6 during the company’s OKX Now product event and is designed around dollar-backed stablecoins rather than conventional bank balances. According to OKX, users can fund their accounts using more than 50 supported local currencies, with those funds converted into dollar-backed stablecoins that can then be held, transferred or spent. The platform supports USDG, USDC and USDT, allowing users to move between supported stablecoins without conversion fees. The company said the product is initially available across several markets in Latin America, Africa, South Asia, including Pakistan and Bangladesh, and the Middle East. This regional focus reflects the company’s view that people in markets affected by currency fluctuations, limited access to banking services or high foreign exchange costs may have greater interest in digital-dollar products.
A central feature of OKX Money is the ability for eligible users to earn returns on certain digital-dollar balances while retaining access to those funds for spending. Qualifying customers can earn up to 10% annual percentage yield on eligible USDG balances, with OKX stating that users do not need to stake their assets or lock them for a fixed period to receive the applicable rewards. The service is designed to combine this savings functionality with payments, meaning users do not necessarily need to move their funds between separate savings and spending products. OKX Money also includes virtual and physical cards that can be used for purchases online or in stores wherever Mastercard is accepted. The company says eligible customers can spend in foreign currencies without additional foreign exchange fees, while qualifying purchases can earn up to 10% cashback through a five-tier rewards programme. The official OKX Money platform also highlights automatic weekly payouts for eligible USDG balances, free stablecoin transfers and the ability to monitor balances, earnings and rewards within the application.
The payments functionality is another important part of OKX Money, as the service is intended to make stablecoins usable for routine financial activity rather than limiting them to cryptocurrency trading or investment. Users can send stablecoins internationally and make payments from the same digital balance used for savings. OKX said stablecoin-based transactions can help users avoid some of the costs associated with conventional cross-border currency conversions, which can add fees or foreign exchange markups to international purchases. The company estimates that foreign exchange costs can add between 2% and 5% to typical cross-border transactions, although actual costs vary by provider, market and transaction. OKX Money is therefore positioned around a broader use case for dollar-backed digital assets, combining savings, transfers and card spending in one application. The platform also includes referral rewards in participating markets, with users able to receive commissions when eligible referrals activate and use their cards, alongside a smaller second-level commission on qualifying referrals generated through their network.
OKX is also positioning security and regulatory compliance as part of the product’s rollout. The company says it operates under regulatory licensing frameworks in more than 30 jurisdictions and that OKX Money uses the security infrastructure associated with its wider digital-asset ecosystem. The launch comes as stablecoins are increasingly being explored for payments, international transfers and other financial applications beyond cryptocurrency trading. By placing stablecoin balances, potential earnings, transfers and card payments inside one application, OKX Money represents an attempt to make digital-dollar products more accessible to users who may not want to interact directly with the technical side of blockchain technology. However, the availability of individual features, rewards and cards can vary by market and eligibility, meaning users in countries such as Pakistan will need to check the applicable terms and availability before using the service. OKX Money is currently available for download in participating markets, with the company presenting the platform as a way for users to save, send and spend digital dollars through a single financial experience.
