Binance, recognized globally as the largest cryptocurrency exchange by trade volume and registered user numbers, has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Telenor Pakistan. This strategic partnership is established to explore comprehensive opportunities for advancing blockchain innovation alongside structured education initiatives throughout Pakistan. The formal MoU signing ceremony took place at the Telenor Pakistan Headquarters located in Islamabad, drawing key representatives from both organizations to mark the commencement of this technological alliance. Among the prominent attendees from Telenor Pakistan were Chief Consumer Business Officer Waqas Amanullah and Director Channel Planning and Management Muhammad Shiraz Azhar, who were joined by Hamza Usama Khan, the Operations Lead for the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey region at Binance.
Through the structural framework of this new collaboration, Binance and Telenor Pakistan intend to actively investigate various avenues focused on innovation, public awareness, academic education, and specialized learning initiatives designed to support the evolving digital ecosystem of Pakistan. This corporate relationship reflects a strong, shared commitment to promoting widespread awareness of emerging technologies and supporting vital knowledge-sharing initiatives across the nation. The planned developments include hosting blockchain and technology-focused workshops, as well as providing extensive online learning opportunities that will be directly supported by the educational arm of the crypto exchange, Binance Academy.
Commenting on the newly formed partnership, Tarik Erk, who serves as the MENAT Lead and Senior Executive Officer in Abu Dhabi for Binance, emphasized that Pakistan represents an incredibly important market characterized by strong digital adoption and a rapidly growing interest in blockchain technology. He noted that through this targeted collaboration with Telenor Pakistan, the crypto platform aims to explore innovative ways to increase overall accessibility, enhance technological education, and create truly meaningful opportunities for local users to engage productively with the broader digital asset ecosystem.
Representing the telecommunications side, Waqas Amanullah, the Chief Consumer Business Officer at Telenor Pakistan, stated that his organization remains fully committed to supporting a more inclusive and future-ready digital ecosystem through continuous innovation and strategic collaborations. He added that this specific engagement reflects their shared focus on awareness, learning, and the responsible exploration of emerging technologies that can contribute positively to the evolving digital landscape of Pakistan. The executed MoU ultimately serves as a reflection of the shared dedication by both Binance and Telenor Pakistan to foster critical skill development and modern learning opportunities relating to decentralized technologies.
In addition to educational initiatives, Binance continues to actively collaborate with local regulators and industry stakeholders within Pakistan to advance responsible innovation, strengthen overall market integrity, and enhance consumer protection frameworks. As a major component of this regulatory commitment, Binance has successfully obtained an Anti-Money Laundering registration under the PVARA framework, which marks a significant and important step toward achieving full licensing and local incorporation within the country. Furthermore, PVARA has officially issued a No Objection Certificate to Binance, a move that clearly reflects the broader, ongoing efforts of Pakistan to establish a structured, safe, and fully compliant regulatory framework for virtual asset service providers operating in the market.
