SECP Chairman Highlights Digitalization Technology Role As MOBIZ Expands Operations In Pakistan

SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu has highlighted the growing importance of digitalization, innovation and technology-led business models for Pakistan’s economic competitiveness as he welcomed MOBIZ’s expansion in the country. Speaking in Islamabad, Sidhu said Pakistan’s ability to embrace digital technologies and develop technology-driven businesses will play an increasingly important role in supporting economic growth and strengthening the country’s position in regional and global markets.

The SECP chairman pointed to Pakistan’s large and growing pool of young technology professionals as a significant opportunity for the country’s digital economy. He said the availability of skilled talent could help Pakistan emerge as an important regional hub for IT services, digital solutions and global technology delivery. He also emphasized that stronger connections between Pakistani professionals and international markets could help translate the country’s technology capabilities into sustainable economic opportunities.

Sidhu said digitalization can help businesses reduce operational costs, improve transparency and compliance, facilitate investment and provide customers with more efficient services. He noted that the SECP is focused on developing a transparent and technology-enabled regulatory environment that supports innovation while maintaining appropriate oversight. The commission is also working towards improving regulatory frameworks across sectors including corporate, capital markets, insurance, non-banking financial companies and fintech.

MOBIZ has expanded its presence in Pakistan through its Karachi office, with the company now employing more than 170 professionals across areas including digital, data, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. The SECP chairman welcomed the expansion and said MOBIZ’s investment reflects growing opportunities within Pakistan’s technology ecosystem. The development further highlights the potential for international technology companies to establish operations in Pakistan while contributing to the country’s digital transformation and technology-led economic activity.
