The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has called for coordinated tax incentives and policy measures to accelerate Pakistan’s transition towards a cashless economy. During discussions focused on the country’s digital payments ecosystem, stakeholders highlighted the role of electronic transactions in improving transparency, expanding documentation and broadening the tax base.
FPCCI emphasized that greater adoption of digital payments could help bring more economic activity into documented channels while reducing reliance on cash-based transactions. The business community has called for policy measures that can encourage consumers and businesses to shift towards formal digital payment methods, particularly as Pakistan continues to expand its digital financial infrastructure.
The proposed incentives are aimed at creating a more supportive environment for digital transactions and encouraging businesses to adopt electronic payment channels. Increased digital payment usage can also provide businesses with more traceable transaction records, potentially supporting tax compliance and improving visibility across commercial activity.
The call comes as Pakistan’s fintech and payments ecosystem continues to develop, with banks, payment service providers and digital platforms expanding electronic payment options. FPCCI’s proposal places tax policy at the centre of efforts to accelerate this shift, with coordinated incentives seen as a potential tool for encouraging wider adoption of digital payments across the economy.
