Pakistan Fintech Network (PFN) has announced its newly elected board, bringing together senior executives and professionals from across the country’s financial services and technology sectors. The announcement was shared by the organization on October 6, introducing a leadership team selected from PFN membership. Syed Nadeem Hussain has been named chairman of the board, which includes representatives from fintech companies, banking, digital payments, non-bank financial companies (NBFCs), insurance, technology, and other areas of financial services. The newly elected board comes at a time when digital financial services continue to develop across Pakistan, with businesses and institutions working to expand electronic payments, improve access to financial products, and encourage the use of technology in financial transactions. Through its new leadership structure, PFN aims to bring industry participants together around shared priorities, including industry collaboration, policy advocacy, innovation, and financial inclusion. The organization congratulated the elected members and thanked its membership for the trust placed in the new board.
The board is chaired by Syed Nadeem Hussain and includes Sardar Abubakr, identified in the announcement as Global CEO of Netsol Technologies; Adnan Aslam, CEO of Digikhata; and Muhammad Saad Khan, President and CEO of QSP. Other members include Naureen Hyat, an entrepreneur and fintech specialist, and Omar Khalid, associated with Taseer. The board also features Kabeer Naqvi, identified as an entrepreneur in residence at Abhi Group; Shahzad Khan, CEO of Easypaisa; Mahmood Shamsher Ali, CEO of Alif Finance; Khurram Mumtaz, Chief Digital Officer at UBL; and Nofel Daud, Chief Digital Officer at BOP. Their participation reflects the presence of digital financial services, banking, lending, and technology expertise within the board. Bringing together professionals from different parts of the financial ecosystem can create opportunities for discussion on shared challenges, business models, technology adoption, and regulatory developments. However, the announcement did not provide a detailed breakdown of individual board responsibilities, committee assignments, or the duration of each member’s term.
Additional board members include Amina Ahmed, Co-Founder and Director of Sunshine Technologies; Muhammad Aminuddin, associated with TPL Insurance and holding the designation CDir FIoD; Mohammed Ali Ahmed, CEO of FFL Life Assurance; Aamir Aftab, Chief Product Officer at JazzCash; Najeeb Agrawalla, CEO of 1LINK; Farrukh Amlani, CFO of Sadapay; and Muhammad Naveed Sharif, CEO of Unikrew Solutions. Their professional backgrounds span insurance, digital payments, financial technology, product development, and technology services. This range of experience could support dialogue on issues affecting financial institutions and technology providers, including digital service delivery, customer experience, payment infrastructure, and the development of products for underserved market segments. As digital finance expands, coordination between fintech firms, banks, insurers, payment service providers, and technology companies can be important for addressing operational barriers and identifying areas where industry-wide approaches may be useful. PFN’s new board brings these different perspectives into one leadership group, although the specific initiatives and priorities it will pursue have not yet been detailed in the announcement.
PFN has stated that the new board will work toward greater industry collaboration, policy advocacy, innovation, and financial inclusion across Pakistan. These priorities reflect several ongoing concerns for the financial technology sector, including how to broaden access to formal financial services, increase the use of digital payments, support responsible product development, and engage constructively with policymakers and regulators. Industry associations can provide a platform for members to share perspectives, discuss common issues, and communicate sector-wide concerns to relevant stakeholders. The effectiveness of the new board will depend on the activities it undertakes, the engagement it maintains with members, and the progress achieved against its stated priorities. PFN has not announced specific targets, policy proposals, or a timetable for upcoming initiatives alongside the board introduction. The appointment of the new leadership team nevertheless establishes a new representative group drawn from several major segments of Pakistan’s financial and technology ecosystem. Its future work will help determine how the network contributes to sector coordination, policy discussions, digital financial innovation, and efforts to extend financial services to a wider range of individuals and businesses.
