Easypaisa and KTrade Partner to Simplify Digital Stock Market Account Opening Process

easypaisa digital bank and KTrade have entered into a partnership aimed at making stock market investing more accessible for millions of Pakistanis, allowing users to open a Pakistan Stock Exchange investment account directly through the easypaisa app. The collaboration was unveiled at a ceremony held in Islamabad, attended by senior representatives from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, including Commissioner Muzaffar Mirza, along with Naveed Qazi, CEO of the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited, Badiuddin Akber, CEO of the Central Depository Company, and officials from easypaisa and KTrade.

Under the arrangement, easypaisa users can open a KTrade PSX investment account within 10 minutes through a fully digital onboarding process, cutting out much of the paperwork and physical documentation that has traditionally slowed down retail participation in Pakistan’s capital markets. The companies said the rollout drew strong early demand, with easypaisa and KTrade recording the highest single-day volume of investment account onboarding in PSX history, an indication of pent-up interest in digital investment tools among retail users.

Jahanzeb Khan, President and CEO of easypaisa digital bank, said the partnership extends the platform’s focus beyond payments and banking into investments, giving users a way to take part in Pakistan’s capital markets through a straightforward and fully digital process. He also thanked the SECP, NCCPL, and CDC for their support in digitizing brokerage account onboarding, noting that the move lays groundwork for more Pakistanis to enter the formal investment space. Mahmood Ali Shah Bukhari, CEO of KTrade, said the future of investing depends on accessibility and convenience, adding that the tie-up with easypaisa brings the stock market within closer reach of everyday users and supports a broader culture of investing in the country. Officials from NCCPL pointed to the role of digital innovation in expanding investor participation, while CDC was credited for enabling the infrastructure behind the initiative.

The partnership ties into wider efforts across Pakistan’s financial sector to increase retail participation in capital markets, push adoption of digital financial services, and open up new avenues for wealth creation among underserved segments of the population. With over 60 million registered users, easypaisa is among the leading digital banks in the country and says it will continue expanding its range of financial products, aiming to serve both existing customers and the large number of Pakistanis who remain unbanked or underbanked. No details were shared on transaction volumes generated through the new investment feature so far, though both companies indicated more updates would follow as adoption grows.
