Askari Bank is set to organize a financial inclusion webinar on Islamic banking and digital transformation in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) under the National Financial Literacy Program (NFLP). The session, titled “Islamic Banking in a Digital World,” is scheduled for September 29, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM and will be conducted online through Zoom. The webinar is designed to provide participants with insights into how digital innovation is influencing Islamic banking and the delivery of financial services. The initiative forms part of broader financial literacy and inclusion efforts, with the session expected to bring together industry perspectives on the interaction between Shariah-compliant banking practices and emerging digital channels. Askari Bank has been expanding its digital banking offerings, including digital account opening for both conventional and Islamic banking customers, while its Islamic banking portfolio includes digital account options and other Shariah-compliant financial products.
The webinar will focus on the changing role of technology in Islamic banking and how digital channels can contribute to broader access to formal financial services. Financial inclusion has increasingly been linked with the availability of convenient and accessible digital financial products, particularly as banks expand mobile and online services. The SBP’s National Financial Inclusion Strategy progress report notes that Pakistan has been working on digital financial literacy, including awareness of digital financial products, digital financial risks, consumer rights, and available redress mechanisms. The central bank has also reported progress on the National Financial Education Roadmap 2025–29, which promotes financial literacy through both physical and digital channels. Against this backdrop, discussions around Islamic banking in a digital environment can address how customers understand and access Shariah-compliant financial services as banking becomes increasingly technology-driven.
Askari Bank’s participation in financial literacy initiatives also builds on its existing focus on Islamic banking and customer education. The bank’s recent corporate disclosures indicate that it has invested in Islamic banking training and awareness, while its 2025 performance reporting noted recognition from the SBP for capability building in Islamic banking and financial inclusion. Askari Bank currently offers a range of Shariah-compliant products, including Islamic current and savings accounts, digital account options, and financing products. Its Islamic Click Account, for example, is presented as a fully digital account designed to provide customers with banking services through digital channels. The bank also offers digital onboarding for Islamic accounts, allowing eligible resident customers to apply for selected accounts remotely. These developments reflect the broader shift toward delivering banking services through digital platforms while maintaining product structures based on Islamic finance principles.
The September 29 webinar will therefore provide an opportunity for participants to learn more about the relationship between digital transformation, Islamic finance, and financial inclusion. Askari Bank has invited interested participants to join the session through Zoom, with the meeting scheduled for 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The webinar is being held under the National Financial Literacy Program in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan, placing the event within Pakistan’s wider financial awareness efforts. The session is expected to cover industry insights into the development of Islamic banking in an increasingly digital environment and the ways technology can affect customer access, awareness, and engagement with financial services. As Pakistan’s banking sector continues to expand digital channels, initiatives focused on financial literacy can help customers better understand available services and the considerations involved in using digital financial products.
