Zindigi Partners with WASA Lahore to Integrate Raast QR Code Payments for Utility Bills

Strengthening its long term commitment to driving comprehensive digital transformation across the country, Zindigi, a digital financial service powered by JS Bank, has established a strategic partnership with the Water and Sanitation Agency Lahore to integrate Raast QR code based bill payment functionality. This technological deployment marks a significant operational milestone toward optimizing public service delivery through the execution of modern, cloud native financial solutions. The localized utility initiative directly aligns with the Chief Minister of Punjab wider Smart City master plan, which prioritizes the expansion of digital financial inclusion and the systematic advancement of a structured, cashless urban economy.

Through this newly embedded cryptographic transaction feature, consumers residing across the metropolitan area can now execute instant, real time payments of their outstanding water utility bills by simply scanning the standardized Raast QR code using any participating commercial banking app or digital wallet software. By moving beyond traditional cash collection counters, the service ensures a radically faster, more secure, and entirely hassle free payment experience for the public. The underlying integration utilizes the state backed instant payment system infrastructure to settle merchant obligations immediately, lowering transaction drop out rates and removing conventional manual entry friction.

The institutional agreement was officially formalized during a high profile signing ceremony hosted at the WASA Lahore Head Office in the presence of executive leadership from both partnering entities. The corporate event was attended by senior public sector and banking officials, including WASA Lahore Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed, Director of Planning and Evaluation Mudasser Javaid, Director of Finance Ather Mehmood, Director of Revenue Murtaza Hassan, and Deputy Director of Information Technology Ahsan Hayat. The financial services provider was represented by Zindigi Chief Business Officer Atif Ishaque, Unit Head of Public Sector Adil Ghafoor, ESS Manager Sara Masood, and Content Manager Sidra Khalid.

Reflecting on the modernization drive during the assembly, WASA Lahore Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed stated that the utility provider is actively advancing its structural technological transition through the rapid adoption of decentralized digital payment protocols. He expressed deep appreciation for the technical engineering team at Zindigi for executing the timely development and deployment of the Raast QR network, noting that the automation play will drastically contract administrative processing times, slash overhead operational costs, and offer unparalleled transactional accessibility and payment flexibility for utility consumers across Lahore.

Adding to the strategic discussion, Director of Planning and Evaluation Mudasser Javaid emphasized that the municipal utility organization remains at the absolute absolute forefront of driving the provincial government technological vision through real world utility applications. He highlighted that customer-centric initiatives like the Raast QR payment rail significantly enhance convenience for ordinary citizens while simultaneously modernizing public sector revenue collections and fostering a seamless electronic payment ecosystem.

Elaborating on the future scope of the tech rollout, Zindigi Chief Business Officer Atif Ishaque explained that the commercial collaboration perfectly mirrors a mutual corporate ambition to accelerate the national shift toward a fully digital economy. He remarked that the high degree of digital readiness demonstrated by the engineering division of WASA Lahore paved the way for an incredibly smooth system integration. He further noted that the banking institution views this rollout as a foundational blueprint with massive replication potential for deeper public sector digitization, ultimately serving to optimize treasury management and elevate the end user consumer experience.
