UBL Joins 1LINK Captured Card Reporting System for Secure ATM Management

United Bank Limited (UBL) has been onboarded onto 1LINK’s Captured Card Reporting System (CCRS), providing the bank with a centralized mechanism to manage cards captured by ATMs. The onboarding is intended to support more secure and efficient handling of ATM-captured cards while improving the processes used to report, monitor and resolve such incidents. The development adds another banking institution to 1LINK’s CCRS platform and reflects the continued adoption of technology-driven systems designed to support card management and payment operations across Pakistan’s banking sector.

Through the Captured Card Reporting System, UBL will have access to centralized reporting capabilities for ATM-captured cards, allowing relevant information to be managed through a more structured and coordinated process. ATM card capture can occur for several operational reasons, including situations where a card is retained by an ATM during a transaction. Managing these incidents efficiently is important for banks because customers need timely information and appropriate resolution while financial institutions must also maintain controls around card security. A centralized reporting system can help organize the information associated with captured cards and support coordination between the institutions involved in resolving such cases.

The integration of UBL with CCRS is also expected to support the bank’s regulatory compliance requirements and improve operational efficiency. By using a centralized reporting mechanism, financial institutions can streamline processes related to captured cards instead of relying on fragmented or manual reporting procedures. The system can also facilitate faster resolution of captured card incidents, potentially reducing the period during which customers remain without access to their cards. Efficient handling of these cases is particularly important in an environment where customers increasingly depend on debit and ATM cards for everyday payments, cash withdrawals and other banking transactions.

Another key aspect of the onboarding is card security. Captured cards can create concerns around unauthorized use if they are not managed and resolved appropriately. By improving the reporting and monitoring of cards retained by ATMs, CCRS can support processes aimed at reducing the risk associated with captured cards. For customers, more efficient resolution can contribute to a smoother banking experience by helping ensure that card-related incidents are handled through defined processes. The initiative therefore connects operational efficiency with customer service and security, areas that have become increasingly important as banks expand their digital and card-based financial services.

The onboarding was formally marked by a signing ceremony attended by Farhan Najeeb, Group Head – Centralized Operations at UBL, and Najeeb Agrawalla, CEO of 1LINK, along with members of their respective teams. The collaboration highlights the role of payment infrastructure providers such as 1LINK in supporting banks with systems that address specific operational and security requirements across the payments ecosystem. With UBL now onboarded onto CCRS, the bank can use the system to support centralized reporting, regulatory compliance, card security and faster handling of ATM-captured card incidents. The development represents another step toward greater coordination and technology-led efficiency in Pakistan’s banking and payment infrastructure.
