The Bank of Punjab has launched Pakistan’s first Mastercard World Elite Credit and Debit Cards, introducing what it describes as a new milestone in premium banking in the country. The cards have been launched in collaboration with Mastercard and are intended to offer customers global acceptance along with exclusive travel and lifestyle benefits. The bank said the launch reinforces its commitment to digital innovation and to delivering an exceptional customer experience, and it presented the introduction of the cards as another market first for the institution.
In announcing the launch, senior officials and teams at the bank were commended for bringing the product to market. Sameer Hashmi and Salman Mazhar were singled out for praise, together with the wider teams at the bank who contributed to the effort. The announcement described the occasion as the latest in a series of launches, reflecting a pace of product introduction that the bank appears keen to maintain as it seeks to strengthen its position in the premium segment of the market.
The bank also acknowledged the organisations that supported the initiative. It thanked Mastercard as its principal partner in the endeavour, naming Mark Elliott, Arslan Khan, Shahrukh F. and Waleed Shaikh for their involvement. On the technology side, the bank recognised Euronet and TPS as its technology partners, with Kashif Gaya and Dawer Khan mentioned in connection with their contribution. Each of these partners played a role in enabling a product that combines a global payment network with the technical infrastructure needed to issue and support both credit and debit cards.
Leadership at the bank received particular thanks for making the launch of Mastercard World Elite possible. Zafar Masud, the Chief Executive Officer, and Nofel Daud, the Chief Digital Officer, were credited for their visionary leadership and unwavering support throughout the project. The bank used the occasion to express appreciation for the guidance provided from the top of the organisation, noting that such backing had been central to delivering a first of its kind offering in the Pakistani market.
The introduction of the cards places The Bank of Punjab among the institutions seeking to expand premium offerings for customers who value international acceptance and access to travel and lifestyle privileges. By bringing both credit and debit variants of Mastercard World Elite to the market, the bank has widened the range of choices available to its customers within a single premium product family. The launch, according to the bank, also underlines its wider focus on digital innovation, which it has continued to emphasise alongside its commitment to the customers it serves across the country.
