Mashreq is offering eligible Pakistanis living in the United Arab Emirates a digital way to open and manage bank accounts in Pakistan without visiting a branch in their home country. The service, known as Mashreq Pakistan Account, connects customers’ banking needs in the UAE with everyday financial commitments in Pakistan through mobile applications. According to an advertorial published by Dawn on October 26, existing Mashreq UAE customers of Pakistani nationality can apply through the Mashreq UAE Mobile App using their valid Pakistani passport and Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP). The account is designed for overseas Pakistanis who need to send money to family members, pay domestic bills or maintain funds in Pakistan while working abroad. The fully digital onboarding process removes the need for a physical branch visit in Pakistan, although applicants must meet the bank’s eligibility and documentation requirements.
A key feature of the service is Quick Remit, which allows eligible Mashreq customers to transfer money from their UAE account to their Mashreq Pakistan Account with real-time credit and zero transfer fees, subject to the applicable terms and conditions. The account can also receive transfers from Pakistani banks and electronic money institutions, providing additional flexibility for moving funds within the country. Once the Pakistani account is activated, customers can use the Mashreq Pakistan Mobile App to handle local financial transactions remotely. These include local bank transfers, utility bill payments, mobile top-ups and credit card payments. The ability to manage these transactions digitally may be particularly useful for overseas Pakistanis who continue to meet household expenses or other financial obligations at home. The bank’s offering combines cross-border remittance functionality with domestic payment services, reducing the need to rely on family members or make separate arrangements for routine payments.
The account also comes with access to a domestic PayPak debit card, which customers can request through the Mashreq Pakistan Mobile App for delivery to an address in Pakistan. The card provides a payment option for local purchases and access to eligible shopping, dining and lifestyle offers. Mashreq says the account does not require a monthly minimum balance, giving customers flexibility in maintaining funds for occasional or regular expenses. The service is aimed at Pakistani nationals residing in the UAE who already hold an eligible Mashreq UAE banking relationship. According to the bank’s published eligibility information, applicants need valid identity documentation, including a Pakistani passport and CNIC or NICOP, and must meet the bank’s customer verification requirements. The digital account is therefore not an unrestricted facility for every overseas Pakistani; availability depends on the customer’s existing banking status and applicable eligibility criteria. Customers should review the bank’s official terms for details on account use, transfer limits and other conditions.
The service adds another digital channel for managing remittances and domestic payments between the UAE and Pakistan, a corridor that serves a substantial overseas Pakistani community. By connecting a UAE banking relationship with a Pakistani account, Mashreq is targeting customers who need access to funds in both countries without having to travel for routine banking tasks. The offering also reflects the wider shift toward app-based financial services, where account opening, transfers and bill payments can be completed remotely. Customers can find the account’s eligibility requirements and application instructions on the bank’s official Mashreq Pakistan Account page. Fees, eligibility, transaction limits and product features remain subject to the bank’s terms and relevant regulatory requirements. The announcement concerns an existing banking service and its features rather than a newly announced account launch.
