NIBAF Pakistan Schedules Digital Banking Security Workshop For Banking, Technology, Compliance And Fraud Risk Professionals

The National Institute of Banking and Finance Pakistan (NIBAF Pakistan), a subsidiary of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), has announced a full-day executive workshop focused on measures to enhance the security of digital banking products and services. Scheduled for November 23, 2026, the training will take place from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at NIBAF Pakistan’s Karachi campus. The programme is designed for professionals responsible for the security, management and delivery of digital financial services, including banking technology leaders, information security specialists, fraud risk managers and compliance teams. The training investment is PKR 18,000 per participant, plus applicable taxes, and the last date for nominations is November 22, 2026. The announcement comes as banks and financial institutions continue to expand mobile banking, internet banking, card payments, USSD services and branchless banking, making security controls an important part of digital financial service delivery.

The workshop is aimed at chief information security officers, chief information officers, chief technology officers, information security and IT managers, as well as fraud risk and operational risk professionals working in digital banking. Product and strategy managers responsible for mobile and internet banking, cards and branchless banking are also among the intended participants. Digital channel managers, call centre managers and professionals working in compliance, audit and inspection are included in the target audience. This cross-functional approach reflects the fact that digital banking security involves more than technical systems alone. Technology teams maintain infrastructure and access controls, product teams oversee customer-facing features, and risk and compliance functions help ensure that processes meet relevant requirements. Coordination among these teams can help financial institutions identify weaknesses, assess emerging risks and establish clearer procedures for handling security incidents. The announcement does not provide a detailed session-by-session agenda, but the programme is specifically focused on security measures for digital banking products and services.

The session will be facilitated by Nawroz Muhammad Ali, an adviser to the Banking Mohtasib Pakistan and a Fellow Chartered Accountant. According to NIBAF Pakistan’s announcement, he is also a Certified Digital Financial Practitioner and has more than 25 years of banking experience dating back to 1997. His professional background includes internal audit and compliance roles in commercial and microfinance banks, approximately a decade in senior positions at the State Bank of Pakistan, and his current advisory role with the Banking Mohtasib. This experience spans several areas relevant to digital financial services, including institutional controls, regulatory compliance and banking operations. For participating professionals, the workshop provides an opportunity to examine digital banking security from multiple organisational perspectives. Banks must consider how security procedures operate across customer-facing applications and internal systems while ensuring that operational and compliance teams understand their respective responsibilities. The practical value of the training will depend on how participants apply the learning to their institutions’ existing systems, policies and risk management processes.

NIBAF Pakistan has set November 22, 2026, as the final date for nominations, one day before the scheduled workshop. Interested professionals and institutions can request registration information by emailing registration@nibaf.gov.pk or marketing@nibaf.org.pk. Further details are available through the telephone numbers 021-35277511 and 051-9269850, while enquiries can also be made through WhatsApp at 0303-0652963. The programme is relevant to institutions seeking to improve staff understanding of digital banking security, particularly as customers increasingly use electronic channels for everyday financial transactions. The State Bank of Pakistan has previously issued formal instructions on security measures for digital banking products and services, highlighting the need for banks and microfinance banks to implement appropriate controls against fraudulent activity. The November workshop offers banking professionals a dedicated training opportunity to focus on these operational and security concerns. Participation is subject to the institute’s registration process and applicable fees.
