K-Electric and Mashreq Pakistan Offer Up to PKR 10,000 Cashback on Digital Utility Bill Payments

K-Electric and Mashreq Pakistan have joined hands to encourage digital bill payments by launching a rewarding initiative for electricity consumers across Karachi and surrounding service areas. Under this strategic collaboration, KE customers who settle their electricity bills through the Mashreq Banking App using an eligible account can receive attractive cashback rewards of up to PKR 10,000. This campaign is structured to incentivize both new and existing account holders who adopt digital banking solutions, thereby furthering the broader national vision of expanding cashless financial channels and building an inclusive digital economy in Pakistan.

To qualify for the offer, utility consumers must process their bill payments through the Mashreq mobile application utilizing either a Mashreq Current Account or a Current Profit Account, including both conventional and Islamic digital banking account variants offered by the financial institution. Eligible users can earn structured cashback amounts starting from PKR 500 up to the maximum limit of PKR 10,000, subject to standard terms and conditions established by the partnering entities. By placing significant monetary incentives directly into the hands of account holders, the collaboration aims to convert cash-reliant consumers into regular users of mobile banking platforms for routine daily transactions.

The initiative arrives at a time when digital payment adoption is already witnessing unprecedented growth within the power utility sector. Digital payments currently account for nearly 70% of KE total customer transactions, marking a substantial transition away from conventional over-the-counter physical cash collection counters. Out of KE total customer footprint, over 2.7 million subscribers, representing nearly three-fourths of its entire customer base, are now digitally connected through various electronic touchpoints. This massive shift underscores evolving consumer preferences toward remote, instant, and secure financial management tools.

For K-Electric, partnering with innovative digital banking institutions directly reinforces the company commitment to accelerating its overarching digital transformation agenda. Settling utility bills through digital channels eliminates the need for consumers to visit physical bank branches or queue up at collection outlets, thereby offering faster, more convenient, and seamless transactional workflows. Integrating advanced payment capabilities directly into mobile applications not only reduces operational friction for utility providers but also lowers the overhead costs associated with physical cash handling and manual billing processing.

Mashreq Pakistan continues to expand its digital footprint across the country by embedding high-value incentives into essential everyday services. Recognizing that utility bill payments represent one of the most frequent and necessary financial touchpoints for households, the bank leverages this routine requirement to drive app engagement and user acquisition. By linking utility settlements with lucrative cashback incentives, the institution demonstrates how digital banking platforms can deliver tangible economic value to everyday consumers while cultivating long-term usage habits.

The strategic alignment between a major energy utility and a digital-first banking institution highlights the growing synergy within Pakistan fintech and banking ecosystem. As power utilities, commercial banks, and regulatory authorities actively collaborate to modernize payment channels, consumers benefit from enhanced accessibility, direct financial rewards, and greater security. Initiatives of this nature play a pivotal role in accelerating digital transformation, reducing reliance on physical paper currency, and establishing a robust foundation for a modern, tech-driven financial ecosystem across Pakistan.
