JazzCash Partners with KP Government for Digital Ehsaas Fuel Support Scheme Disbursements

The landscape of digital governance in Pakistan has reached a new milestone as JazzCash, in collaboration with Mobilink Bank, has been appointed as the exclusive disbursement partner for the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Ehsaas Fuel Support Scheme. This strategic partnership represents a significant leap forward in the large-scale digital distribution of public subsidies, moving away from traditional, often cumbersome payout methods toward a streamlined fintech-led approach. The initiative is a core component of the provincial government’s broader strategy to digitize public services, ensuring that welfare programs are managed with the highest levels of transparency and accountability.

Under the technical framework of the scheme, eligible beneficiaries are identified and verified through rigorous government department protocols. Once cleared, financial assistance is transferred directly into the recipients’ JazzCash wallets. This digital-first methodology allows for instant access to funds, eliminating the need for beneficiaries to wait in long queues at physical distribution centers. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi emphasized that this program is a direct response to the rising cost of living, reflecting a commitment to supporting the province’s citizens through innovative technological solutions. He noted that leveraging digital platforms not only ensures that assistance is delivered with speed and efficiency but also preserves the dignity of the recipients by providing a private and seamless collection process.

To support the massive scale of this operation, JazzCash is deploying its extensive nationwide network, which includes over one million Raast QR-enabled merchants and agents. This footprint is critical for ensuring that beneficiaries in both high-density urban centers and underserved remote areas can access their funds without geographic barriers. The platform’s robust infrastructure is designed to handle high-volume government disbursements, drawing on years of experience in managing secure financial transactions for the public sector. By integrating the national Raast system, the partnership enhances the interoperability and reach of the fuel subsidy program.

Furthermore, the initiative includes a comprehensive support layer to assist users who may be new to digital financial services. JazzCash has launched a dedicated helpline to provide real-time guidance and resolve issues for beneficiaries, ensuring that the transition to digital payments is inclusive for all segments of society. JazzCash CEO Murtaza Ali highlighted that the primary goal of this partnership is to simplify the transfer of financial assistance. By utilizing advanced fintech tools, the company aims to ensure that every beneficiary can access their subsidy quickly and without any technical complications. This collaboration sets a modern precedent for how provincial governments and private fintech entities can work together to foster financial inclusion and modernize social safety nets through digital transformation.
