Roshan Digital Account Investments Reach $13.9 Billion as August Inflows Rise 58 Percent Yearly

Investment through Roshan Digital Accounts (RDAs) has reached approximately $13.9 billion since the launch of the initiative, according to the latest data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The figures highlight continued participation by overseas Pakistanis in Pakistan’s digital banking and investment ecosystem, with cumulative funds received through RDAs reaching around $13.906 billion. The latest figures also show that monthly inflows strengthened in August 2026, reaching $259 million compared with $164 million recorded during the same month last year, representing an increase of 58 percent year-on-year. However, August inflows were lower than the $282 million recorded in July, showing an 8 percent month-on-month decline. The number of Roshan Digital Accounts has also crossed 966,144, indicating continued growth in the use of the digital account facility.

The Roshan Digital Account programme was introduced to provide overseas Pakistanis with a digital channel through which they can maintain accounts and participate in investment opportunities in Pakistan without having to visit a physical bank branch. The latest cumulative figures show that a significant portion of the funds received through the programme has already been either invested within Pakistan or repatriated. Out of the approximately $13.906 billion received since the programme began, around $2.13 billion has been repatriated, while $8.767 billion has been utilized within Pakistan. The remaining net repatriable liability stands at approximately $3.009 billion. This indicates that RDA funds continue to support a range of financial activities in Pakistan while also providing account holders with the option of transferring eligible funds back abroad.

The investment breakdown shows that government-backed instruments continue to account for a substantial share of RDA investments. Conventional Naya Pakistan Certificates hold approximately $716 million, while Islamic Naya Pakistan Certificates account for around $1.332 billion. Roshan Equity Investments stand at approximately $155 million, while other liabilities account for about $78 million. A further $729 million remains in RDA accounts. Taken together, the figures indicate that overseas Pakistanis are using the platform for a combination of government securities, equity-related investments and deposits, rather than keeping all funds in inactive balances. The continued participation in both conventional and Shariah-compliant Naya Pakistan Certificates also reflects the range of investment options available through the programme.

The August figures are particularly notable because the monthly inflow of $259 million represents a sizeable improvement over the same period in 2025. The year-on-year increase comes despite the month-on-month decline from July, when inflows reached $282 million. Meanwhile, the account base has continued to expand, with the number of RDAs surpassing 966,144. The growth in accounts and cumulative funds reflects the continued role of digital banking channels in connecting overseas Pakistanis with financial services and investment opportunities in the country. RDA services are offered by participating Pakistani banks, allowing eligible non-resident Pakistanis to open accounts digitally and access banking and investment products remotely.

The latest milestone comes as Pakistan continues to promote digital financial services for overseas citizens and increase the use of formal channels for investment and remittances. Since its introduction, the Roshan Digital Account initiative has developed into an important mechanism for bringing overseas Pakistani funds into the domestic financial system while giving account holders digital access to banking and investment products. With cumulative receipts now approaching $14 billion and the account base nearing one million, the latest SBP figures point to sustained engagement with the programme. The balance between funds invested, utilized within Pakistan, retained in accounts and repatriated also provides an indication of how overseas Pakistanis are using the platform as part of their broader financial activity connected to Pakistan.
