PPCBL Partners with Paysys Labs to Deploy Mobile Banking App and RTGS Systems

The Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Limited has entered into a strategic contract with specialized financial technology provider Paysys Labs to drive the implementation of its mobile banking application and Real-Time Gross Settlement infrastructure. The agreement was formally executed by Shahram Raza Bakhtiari, President and Chief Executive Officer of PPCBL, alongside Karim Jindani, Director of Paysys Labs. The collaborative initiative reflects a major institutional drive toward upgrading the bank’s digital payment architecture and providing secure, modern, and accessible digital banking services across its regional branch network.

Under the terms of the agreement, Paysys Labs will deploy technological solutions enabling PPCBL to launch a dedicated mobile banking application alongside direct connectivity to national Real-Time Gross Settlement channels. The integration of RTGS capabilities will streamline high-value interbank fund transfers, allowing commercial and agricultural account holders to execute instant payments. Furthermore, the modern mobile application interface is expected to expand customer access to everyday banking services, providing seamless account management, electronic transfers, and payment processing capabilities for account holders throughout the province.

The contract signing ceremony brought together senior management and key stakeholders from both institutions, signaling strong institutional alignment for the bank’s technology transformation agenda. Notable leadership personnel in attendance included Saleem Tahir, Asma Shakeel, Syed Hassan Rizvi, Muhammad Sheraz Sharif, Hassan Tariq, Hamid M. Mirza, Usman Waheed, Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Imran, and Aamir Allaud Din. Their presence underscored the strategic importance attached to modernizing the legacy cooperative bank’s core delivery channels and bringing its digital infrastructure in line with broader national banking standards.

Established as a specialized cooperative financial institution in 1924, PPCBL holds a unique mandate in supporting rural credit delivery, agricultural development, and local cooperative societies across Punjab under dual oversight from the State Bank of Pakistan and the provincial government. As digital channels become the primary touchpoint for financial services nationwide, the partnership with Paysys Labs marks a foundational step in migrating traditional cooperative banking operations toward an agile digital framework. By establishing native mobile channels and real-time settlement rails, PPCBL aims to improve operational efficiency, strengthen customer retention, and accelerate financial inclusion across primary agricultural societies and rural communities.
