Cross-border financial platform LemFi has partnered with enterprise-grade stablecoin payments infrastructure provider BVNK to modernize international settlement systems for globally mobile communities. Through this strategic alliance, LemFi is transitioning its cross-border settlement mechanisms onto BVNK regulated stablecoin payment infrastructure. The transition allows LemFi to facilitate near-instant value transfers between international markets at a fraction of standard operational costs, all while preserving the exact user experience that millions of customers rely upon within the mobile application interface.
For over two million individuals who use LemFi to transfer funds between the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and North America to recipients across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, traditional payment infrastructure has long presented significant hurdles. Standard international money transfers historically depend on correspondent banking networks and complex SWIFT chains. These traditional channels frequently take multiple business days to process transactions while accumulating additional fees at every intermediary stage. To address these systemic inefficiencies, LemFi is replacing legacy rails with high-speed digital settlement mechanisms. Under the new arrangement with BVNK, settlement is managed using regulated stablecoin rails behind the scenes, after which funds are disbursed directly in the local currency of the destination market.
The financial implications of this shift are particularly critical for diaspora communities sending money home to support families and local businesses. Data from the World Bank indicates that the global average cost of sending remittances stood at 6.36 percent in the third quarter of 2025, which is more than double the Sustainable Development Goal target of 3 percent established by the United Nations for 2030. Achieving that 3 percent benchmark globally would return approximately 20 billion dollars annually to receiving families worldwide. Delivering faster and significantly cheaper settlement channels represents one of the most effective methods to close this cost gap, which is precisely the operational layer that LemFi and BVNK are actively replacing.
This strategic move comes amidst a broader transformation across the financial technology sector, as stablecoins transition from niche cryptocurrency applications into mainstream corporate payment infrastructure. Real-world stablecoin transaction volumes reached 7.4 trillion dollars over the past twelve months, with industry analysts forecasting that stablecoin settlement could grow from approximately 3 percent of the global cross-border payments market today to as much as 20 percent within the next decade. For LemFi, the collaboration with BVNK operationalizes the broader stablecoin settlement strategy outlined in May 2026, following a strategic investment from Tether designed to accelerate stablecoin-powered remittance channels across emerging markets.
Highlighting the fundamental problem with legacy rails, Ridwan Olalere, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of LemFi, noted that cross-border money movement continues to depend on infrastructure built decades ago, which remains slow, costly, and burdensome for international communities. He emphasized that rebuilding these rails using regulated stablecoin technology allows LemFi to achieve near-instantaneous settlement while removing unnecessary transaction costs. Furthermore, BVNK provides the necessary enterprise regulatory backing to scale these operations safely, creating a modern financial architecture that international senders and recipient families have required for years.
A critical feature of this system integration is that the entire technological upgrade remains completely invisible to end users. Customers utilizing the LemFi application never interact with stablecoins directly, hold digital currency assets, or navigate crypto wallet management. Instead, users send and receive funds entirely in their native fiat currencies, while stablecoin conversions take place automatically in the background. This design principle enables LemFi to harness the velocity and cost efficiency of stablecoin architecture while preserving the compliance standards, simplicity, and consumer trust established across its user base.
Security and regulatory compliance serve as central foundations for this infrastructure shift. BVNK maintains a compliance-first operational model backed by more than twenty-five regulatory licenses and approvals across the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States, alongside transaction capabilities spanning over 130 countries globally. Its infrastructure already processes stablecoin payments for several major global corporations. Chris Harmse, co-founder and Chief Business Officer at BVNK, highlighted that stablecoins are rapidly becoming the foundational layer for global money movement, with remittances representing one of the most impactful areas for real-world financial improvement. He added that powering LemFi settlement architecture ensures faster, lower-cost transfers reach families across developing regions directly.
This partnership represents the latest development in LemFi evolution from a niche remittance specialist into a comprehensive financial services platform serving globally mobile populations with payments, credit, savings, and communications tools. It builds upon significant growth momentum over the past year, which includes selecting London as its global headquarters backed by a 100 million pound investment commitment in the United Kingdom, alongside an expanding regulatory footprint across North America, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia. Moving forward, stablecoin settlement will be rolled out progressively across LemFi transaction corridors on a market-by-market basis in full alignment with local central bank policies and governing regulatory frameworks.
