Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, urged Pakistani expatriates to use official channels for remittances and financial transactions during the launch of online payments platform KuickPay. This promotes supporting Pakistan’s economy and ensures transparency in the financial system.
The UAE, a significant source of remittances with over 1.7 million Pakistanis residing there, can benefit Pakistan’s growth through formal channels. Remittances have grown 3.5% in recent months, reflecting a global economic recovery. Saudi Arabia remains the top source of remittances, followed by the UAE, UK, and US.
With an increasing Pakistani community in the UAE (over 230,000 migrated in 2023), remittances from there are expected to rise. Digital solutions like KuickPay can simplify financial transactions and support expats, according to Ambassador Tirmizi. KuickPay, designed to serve all UAE residents, allows users to pay bills in both countries using UAE-issued cards.
