Meezan Bank Conducts Islamic Banking And Financial Literacy Awareness Session At Karachi Software House

Meezan Bank has conducted a financial awareness session at KOD LAB Software House in Karachi as part of its participation in the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) National Financial Literacy Program (NFLP). The bank, which describes itself as a leading partner of the central bank for the programme, organised the session to introduce participants to basic concepts of Islamic banking and financial literacy. The initiative focused on improving awareness of financial services and helping attendees develop a better understanding of banking principles and available financial products. By taking the session to a software house, Meezan Bank also engaged with professionals working in the technology sector, extending financial education beyond conventional banking audiences. The activity forms part of the broader objective of the NFLP to promote financial awareness and encourage informed engagement with formal financial services.

The session was conducted by a team of Meezan Bank representatives with experience across personal banking, wealth management, vehicle financing and branch operations. Salman Ali Siddiqui, Business Planning Manager, Personal Banking and the bank’s focal person for the NFLP, participated alongside Syed Osama Khalid, Product Head Wealth Management. The speakers also included Rizwan Khan, Team Leader Car Ijarah, and Raza Hirani, Branch Manager of the DHA Suffa University Branch. Their participation brought together different areas of the bank’s operations, allowing the session to cover financial literacy and Islamic banking from multiple professional perspectives. The bank said the speakers shared insights into basic Islamic banking concepts and financial literacy, although it did not disclose the specific topics, materials or activities covered during the discussion.

Islamic banking was a central theme of the awareness session. Such financial education initiatives can help participants understand the principles and structures associated with Shariah-compliant banking, as well as the differences between various financial products. The inclusion of a wealth management representative and a Car Ijarah team leader also brought product-related expertise into the discussion. Car Ijarah is among the areas of vehicle financing offered through Islamic banking structures, while wealth management services address customers’ broader financial planning and investment needs. However, Meezan Bank’s announcement did not specify whether the session included detailed product demonstrations, individual financial consultations or guidance on opening accounts. Its stated focus remained on sharing basic concepts and promoting financial literacy among participants at KOD LAB Software House.

The engagement highlights Meezan Bank’s role in the National Financial Literacy Program and its collaboration with the SBP to promote awareness of financial services in Pakistan. Financial literacy initiatives can help individuals better understand banking products, financial planning and the importance of making informed decisions when using formal financial services. By conducting sessions at workplaces and educational institutions, participating banks can reach audiences who may not regularly attend conventional financial awareness programmes. Meezan Bank has not announced details of further sessions at other organisations or provided figures on the number of participants reached through this particular activity. Nevertheless, the Karachi session represents another engagement under the bank’s NFLP activities, with Islamic banking and basic financial knowledge forming the core of its discussion.
