Karandaaz Pakistan Partners with Tapsys to Deploy Raast Enabled Smart Soundbox Technology to Ten Thousand Micro Merchants

The digital financial services landscape in Pakistan has marked a significant advancement through a strategic partnership between Karandaaz Pakistan and digital payments enablement enterprise Tapsys. Under the institutional framework of the Raast Merchant Onboarding and Facilitating Entities programme, the joint initiative is structured to accelerate digital payment adoption among up to ten thousand micro and small merchants across the country. The collaborative blueprint focuses heavily on onboarding, operational activation, and the field deployment of smart soundbox technology, which serves to provide real time audio confirmation of successful electronic transactions in localized languages directly to small business owners.

This targeted intervention addresses deep seated behavioral and operational barriers that have historically restricted grassroots digital financial service penetration within lower tier and underserved retail markets. Micro merchants operating in fast paced commercial environments frequently cite a lack of immediate transaction verification, general unfamiliarity with cashless applications, and systemic trust deficits as core reasons for maintaining cash reliance. By introducing instant audio notifications through localized soundboxes at the point of sale, the initiative aims to bridge this trust deficit, assuring vendors that funds have been securely transferred from the customer account into their business ledger without needing manual smartphone app verification.

The operational strategy behind this rollout leverages the established commercial infrastructure of Tapsys, which maintains an active presence across eighty five cities with a primary focus on expanding digital payment acceptance within Tier 2 and Tier 3 urban centers. The enablement company plans to utilize its specialized PayApp software architecture alongside its dedicated on ground representative networks to execute the merchant onboarding processes smoothly. Financial policy analysts note that this development marks a critical transition for the digital ecosystem, shifting national focus away from foundational infrastructure creation toward driving daily transaction velocity among the micro enterprises that form the backbone of the domestic retail economy.

According to institutional heads, this framework directly supports the State Bank of Pakistan overarching vision of achieving a comprehensive cashless financial ecosystem via the Raast instant payment system. Chief Executive Officer of Karandaaz Pakistan Waqas ul Hasan emphasized that micro merchants remain central to achieving structural inclusion, noting that the alliance delivers practical, market facing solutions designed to ease daily business operations. Echoing this outlook, Tapsys Chief Executive Officer Karim Jindani remarked that integrating the central bank instant payment rails with smart soundbox components provides underserved traders with the requisite confidence to transition away from cash dependence while scaling secure digital accessibility far beyond major metropolitan centers.
