New Focal Person Appointed for Crypto and Blockchain at Prime Minister’s Youth Programme to Drive Digital Innovation

Pakistan has appointed a new Focal Person for Crypto and Blockchain under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), signaling a strengthened focus on building the country’s digital finance and blockchain ecosystem. The appointment aims to harness the potential of Pakistan’s youth, who make up over 63 percent of the nation’s population, to actively participate in the emerging digital economy rather than remain passive observers.

In this role, the Focal Person will spearhead initiatives designed to expand education, employment, and engagement opportunities within the crypto and blockchain sector under the PMYP framework. The position reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to accelerating the adoption of blockchain and crypto technologies, while also developing a local ecosystem capable of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among young Pakistanis.

According to the newly appointed Focal Person, Pakistan’s demographic advantage presents a unique opportunity for national development through digital innovation. With nearly 250 million residents, the youth population represents a critical resource that can be mobilized to lead advancements in blockchain infrastructure, decentralized finance, and related digital technologies. However, adoption of crypto technologies alone is insufficient; building capacity, creating pathways for innovation, and enabling meaningful participation are seen as essential for sustainable growth in this sector.

The Focal Person highlighted three key pillars that will guide the PMYP crypto and blockchain initiatives. The first pillar, Education, will focus on equipping youth with technical knowledge and practical skills in blockchain development, decentralized applications, and crypto finance. The second pillar, Employment, seeks to create job opportunities and entrepreneurial pathways for young innovators to build businesses and solutions that leverage blockchain technology. The third pillar, Engagement, will emphasize collaboration and transparent communication between stakeholders, government entities, and the wider community to ensure inclusive participation and accountability.

The roadmap for this initiative will be shared publicly in the coming weeks, emphasizing transparency and collaboration as central tenets of the program. By establishing clear objectives, building educational infrastructure, and fostering a vibrant ecosystem, the PMYP aims to position Pakistan as a regional leader in blockchain innovation while empowering youth to become active contributors to the digital economy.

Industry experts note that Pakistan’s regulatory landscape is gradually evolving to support responsible crypto and blockchain adoption. By aligning youth development programs with emerging regulatory frameworks, the government seeks to balance innovation with security, risk management, and compliance. The appointment of a dedicated Focal Person underlines the country’s intent to create a structured approach for nurturing talent, promoting entrepreneurship, and driving economic growth through digital technologies.

This initiative is expected to catalyze the creation of startups, educational programs, and employment avenues in crypto and blockchain, enabling young Pakistanis to contribute to financial inclusion, technological innovation, and digital literacy. As the program advances, it aims to cultivate a generation of builders who can leverage crypto and blockchain technologies to solve real-world challenges, strengthen the domestic economy, and participate in global digital networks.

The strategic appointment under PMYP demonstrates Pakistan’s proactive approach to leveraging its demographic dividend, fostering innovation, and integrating blockchain and crypto technologies into mainstream economic and social development initiatives.
