A widespread technical glitch affecting the ePay Punjab mobile app has caused significant disruptions to online payments and government services in the province. On Saturday, users reported being unable to locate their payment codes, hindering transactions for stamp duty, token tax, traffic fines, and vehicle registration.
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), the executing authority for the ePay Punjab App, confirmed that the malfunction was due to a technical glitch within its own systems. This issue has also impacted the driving license system, leading to the suspension of driving license services by the traffic police until further notice.
The ePay app outage comes just weeks after a major Microsoft cloud computing service failure caused widespread disruptions globally. The crash affected banking, communications, and other essential services in countries like India, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
