UBL has introduced an AI-powered Voice Command feature on its UBL Digital App, allowing customers to interact with banking services through spoken commands in English and Urdu. The new feature is designed to make everyday banking more accessible by enabling users to perform selected tasks without navigating through multiple screens or manually entering information. According to UBL, customers can simply tap the microphone option within the app and speak their required banking instruction, bringing voice-based interaction into the digital banking experience.
The Voice Command feature provides customers with a hands-free way to access commonly used banking functions. Through voice instructions, users can perform tasks such as checking account statements, making beneficiary-related transactions, paying bills and topping up mobile accounts, as highlighted in UBL’s promotional material. By allowing customers to communicate with the application using natural spoken commands, the feature aims to reduce the steps required to access routine services and make the UBL Digital App easier to use for customers who prefer conversational interaction over traditional menu-based navigation.
The introduction of voice-based banking also reflects the growing use of artificial intelligence in financial services, particularly as banks seek to make digital platforms more convenient and responsive. Supporting both English and Urdu is particularly relevant for Pakistan’s diverse customer base, as it allows users to interact with the application in either of the two languages. Rather than requiring customers to learn specific navigation paths within the app, the voice interface provides an alternative method of accessing services by allowing customers to state what they want to do. This can make digital banking more approachable for users who may find conventional app interfaces less convenient.
UBL’s latest feature adds another layer to the bank’s ongoing digital banking offering, placing AI-powered interaction directly within its mobile application. The bank has positioned the Voice Command service as a way to make banking simpler, faster and more convenient, particularly for routine transactions and account-related activities. As customers increasingly rely on mobile applications for financial services, features such as voice commands can provide additional flexibility in how users interact with their banks. The launch also highlights how artificial intelligence is increasingly being incorporated into mainstream banking platforms in Pakistan, with voice interfaces emerging as another channel through which customers can access financial services.
