SECP Talk Series to Discuss Pakistan Insurance Industry Development and Growth

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan will host a session on Pakistan’s insurance industry as part of its SECP Talk Series, bringing together three senior industry figures to discuss developments, challenges, and opportunities across the sector. The session, titled “Expanding Protection, Strengthening Markets and Shaping the Future,” is scheduled for September 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the SECP Head Office in Islamabad, with both in-person attendance and a live stream available through SECP’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

The panel will feature Muhammad Aminuddin, CEO of TPL Insurance, Shoaib Javed Hussain, CEO of State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan, and Muhammad Ali Ahmed, CEO of EFU Life Insurance, three executives representing a mix of private and state-run insurance providers in the country. Their combined presence is intended to give the session a broad view of the industry, spanning general insurance, life insurance, and the state-owned segment of the market, with each speaker expected to bring perspective from their respective corner of the sector.

The event forms part of SECP’s ongoing Talk Series, which the regulator has used as a platform to engage directly with industry leaders and the public on issues relevant to the sectors it oversees. For the insurance industry specifically, the session comes at a time when regulators and market participants in Pakistan have been focused on expanding insurance penetration, which remains relatively low compared to other financial services, while also working through structural and product-related developments across both life and non-life segments. Discussions of this kind are typically used to surface where the industry sees room for growth, what regulatory or market conditions are limiting expansion, and what steps companies are taking to reach new segments of the population.

Those interested in attending the session in person have been asked to register by reaching out to mateen.abbasi@secp.gov.pk, while anyone unable to attend physically can follow the discussion through SECP’s official Facebook and YouTube channels once the session goes live. No agenda beyond the general theme of the talk was shared, and it remains to be seen whether the session will result in any specific policy announcements or simply serve as a platform for industry perspective sharing among stakeholders and the public.
