Mobilink Bank has partnered with Yango to introduce Shariah-compliant vehicle and handset financing for eligible drivers, creating new financing opportunities for people working in Pakistan’s growing gig economy. The partnership will initially launch in Karachi before expanding nationwide, allowing eligible Yango drivers to access financing for cars, motorcycles, e-bikes, rickshaws and handsets needed for their work.
The financing package will include embedded Takaful protection and access to Mobilink Bank’s broader digital financial ecosystem. Drivers will also have access to services including the Business Plus Account, digital onboarding through the Dost App, Raast QR payments and online outpatient medical services through the bank’s insurance partners, providing a broader set of financial and support services alongside the financing facility.
The partnership is designed to help drivers acquire or upgrade the vehicles and devices they need to participate in the digital economy and generate income. By combining financing with digital banking and payment services, Mobilink Bank and Yango are targeting the practical financial needs of gig workers while supporting greater access to formal financial services.
The nationwide expansion of the programme could extend these financing opportunities to drivers across multiple cities and regions. The initiative also highlights the increasing role of financial institutions in supporting Pakistan’s gig economy, where access to affordable asset financing can help drivers enter the sector, improve their earning capacity and build more sustainable livelihoods.
