Pakistan Single Window (PSW) hosted a delegation from Azerbaijan Single Window for a bilateral exchange focused on digital trade transformation, border management and the use of technology to improve cross-border connectivity. The visit provided an opportunity for representatives from both sides to exchange experiences on the development of digital trade ecosystems and explore ways technology can support more connected, efficient and streamlined international trade processes. The discussions also highlighted the potential for greater cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan in the area of digital trade facilitation.
During the visit, PSW CEO Aftab Haider shared the organization’s transformation journey from a traditional trade environment toward a unified digital ecosystem. PSW has developed a platform that connects regulatory authorities and brings different trade-related processes together through digital channels. The system is designed to streamline procedures, reduce paperwork and support more transparent and efficient cross-border operations. The delegation was briefed on how digital architecture and process re-engineering have been used to transform trade-related processes and create a more integrated environment for businesses and government authorities involved in international trade.
The Azerbaijan delegation was also introduced to several of PSW’s flagship initiatives, including Tradeverse, PortVerse, Trade Lab, the Integrated Risk Management System (IRMS), the Certificate of Origin Portal and the Khadijah Women Entrepreneurship Program. These initiatives demonstrate the different ways PSW is applying digital technology to trade facilitation, risk management, documentation and entrepreneurship. The platforms form part of PSW’s broader digital ecosystem, which seeks to reduce manual processes, improve information exchange and provide businesses and regulatory authorities with more streamlined tools for managing trade-related activities.
The discussions also focused on Azerbaijan’s ongoing development of its Single Window system and the experience that Pakistan has gained through PSW’s digital transformation. The two sides explored how PSW’s expertise in digital architecture, process re-engineering and risk-based trade facilitation could contribute to the continued development of Azerbaijan’s trade ecosystem. Risk-based facilitation can allow authorities to use digital information and assessment mechanisms to identify transactions requiring closer attention while helping facilitate lower-risk trade more efficiently. The exchange therefore covered both technological and operational aspects of developing modern Single Window systems.
The bilateral engagement reflects a shared interest in using technology, collaboration and innovation to improve international trade connectivity. Digital Single Window systems can connect multiple government agencies and trade stakeholders through integrated platforms, reducing duplication and supporting paperless processes. For Pakistan and Azerbaijan, cooperation in this area could provide opportunities to exchange knowledge and experiences as both countries continue to develop their digital trade infrastructure. PSW’s engagement with the Azerbaijan Single Window delegation also highlights the growing role of digital transformation in border management and trade facilitation, as governments increasingly adopt technology to create more seamless cross-border trade processes.
