1LINK Highlights AI Transformation in Islamic Banking and Finance

Mr. Azimullah Khan, Chief Digital & Tech Solutions at 1LINK, participated as a panelist at the 15th Islamic Finance Expo & Conference, where he discussed the importance of artificial intelligence transformation in Islamic banking and its impact on the growth of Islamic finance. The session, titled “Importance of AI Transformation in Islamic Banking and its Impact on the Growth of Islamic Finance,” was held on July 30, 2026, at the Mövenpick Hotel in Karachi. The discussion brought attention to the growing role of AI in financial services and the need for financial institutions to consider how emerging technologies can be adopted while maintaining the principles and values associated with Islamic finance.

During the panel discussion, Azimullah Khan highlighted the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence, particularly among Gen Z, as younger users become more familiar with AI-powered digital services and technologies. The discussion focused on the potential role of AI in supporting innovation across the Islamic finance ecosystem while also highlighting the importance of responsible implementation. As financial institutions increasingly explore AI for digital services, customer interactions, operational processes and other applications, the technology is becoming an important part of discussions around the future development of banking and financial services.

Khan also emphasized the importance of Shariah-compliant governance and ethical frameworks when implementing AI within Islamic banking and finance. Such frameworks can help financial institutions consider the ethical and regulatory aspects of AI adoption while ensuring that technology-driven innovation remains aligned with Islamic finance principles. The discussion highlighted the need to maintain trust and integrity as financial institutions adopt emerging technologies, particularly as AI becomes more integrated into services and processes used by customers. Responsible AI implementation can therefore become an important consideration for institutions seeking to combine technological innovation with established principles governing Islamic financial services.

The 15th Islamic Finance Expo & Conference was organized by The Professionals Network Pakistan under the theme “From Practice to Impact: Aligning Islamic Economics & Finance in Light of Global Developments & Challenges.” The event brought together experts and industry stakeholders to discuss developments and challenges affecting Islamic economics and finance. Topics surrounding technology and digital transformation are increasingly relevant to the sector as financial institutions assess how emerging technologies can contribute to the development of Islamic financial products and services while maintaining appropriate governance and compliance standards.

1LINK participated in the conference as an Executive Sponsor, highlighting the company’s involvement in discussions around Pakistan’s digital financial ecosystem and the future of Islamic finance. The company’s participation also reflects the growing connection between financial technology, artificial intelligence and Islamic banking as institutions explore new approaches to digital financial services. With AI adoption continuing to expand among consumers and financial organizations, discussions around responsible implementation, ethical frameworks and Shariah-compliant governance are expected to remain important to the development of technology-driven Islamic finance in Pakistan.
