1LINK has announced that beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) can now avail themselves of doorstep financial services through biometric agent interoperability across its network. The development enables eligible BISP beneficiaries to withdraw their payments through participating biometric agents, providing an additional channel for accessing funds without relying solely on conventional banking outlets. According to 1LINK, all banks involved have been successfully integrated into the 1ID interoperable system. The integration allows BISP beneficiaries to access their payments through participating biometric agents connected to the network. By enabling interoperability between participating institutions, the service is designed to facilitate biometric-based cash withdrawals at agent locations.
The initiative is centered on biometric authentication, allowing beneficiaries to verify their identity before completing a cash withdrawal. The process uses biometric verification at participating agents, providing a mechanism through which BISP beneficiaries can access funds associated with their accounts or payment arrangements. The announcement highlights the role of 1LINK infrastructure in connecting financial institutions and payment channels. Through the interoperable setup, beneficiaries can use participating biometric agents rather than being restricted to a specific outlet or channel. This provides greater flexibility for people receiving BISP payments, particularly where agent-based financial services are more accessible than traditional bank branches.
The service brings together participating issuers and acquirers within the 1LINK network. The issuers shown in the announcement include Bank Alfalah, Bank of Punjab, HBL, HBL Konnect and other participating institutions. On the acquiring side, participating services include Bank Alfalah, easypaisa, HBL Konnect and JazzCash. The integration of these institutions allows biometric agents operating within the network to support eligible BISP beneficiaries seeking to withdraw their funds. Biometric interoperability is an important component of digital financial services because it allows customer verification to take place electronically at participating points of service. In the case of BISP beneficiaries, the arrangement provides another option for accessing financial assistance through agent-based cash withdrawal facilities.
The 1ID interoperability framework also reflects the broader use of shared payment and identification infrastructure among financial institutions. Rather than requiring beneficiaries to use only one institution or a limited set of physical locations, interoperability allows participating channels to work together within the established network. This can make agent-based services more practical for beneficiaries who may live or work away from conventional bank branches. For BISP beneficiaries, the availability of biometric agents can provide a more convenient way to receive cash from their payments. The process is based on biometric authentication, which is used to verify the beneficiary before the transaction is completed. Participating agents equipped to provide the service can therefore act as accessible points for cash withdrawal within the interoperable network.
1LINK has welcomed BISP beneficiaries to avail themselves of the service through participating biometric agents. The announcement specifically focuses on the successful integration of banks into the 1ID interoperable system and its ability to facilitate biometric transactions across the network. The development represents another application of interoperable digital financial infrastructure for government-supported payment programmes. By connecting participating banks, payment services and biometric agents, the system provides BISP beneficiaries with an additional channel through which they can access their funds. With the integration now in place, beneficiaries can use participating biometric agents for eligible cash withdrawals supported through the network. The initiative demonstrates how interoperability between financial institutions and agent networks can be applied to payment distribution and cash access, while biometric authentication remains a central part of the transaction process.
