Zindigi Partners with AJK Government to Digitize Water Bill Payments via Raast QR

Zindigi has partnered with the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to launch a transformative initiative aimed at digitizing water bill management and collections across the region. Under this agreement, citizens will be able to make secure, real-time payments using the Zindigi app as well as all Raast-enabled banking applications, streamlining one of the most critical public utility services in AJK.

The introduction of Raast QR payments is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency and transparency in water billing, reducing delays and errors associated with traditional collection methods. By allowing instant digital transactions, the initiative not only simplifies the payment process for citizens but also strengthens reporting mechanisms for government authorities, enabling better monitoring and accountability in public utility management.

Officials from Zindigi emphasized that this partnership reflects a broader commitment to leveraging technology to improve governance and service delivery. By integrating Raast QR into daily public utility transactions, the project aligns with national efforts to expand digital financial inclusion, providing citizens across urban and rural areas with secure and convenient access to essential services.

The initiative also represents a step forward in modernizing AJK’s public sector infrastructure. Previously reliant on cash-based or manual systems, water billing and collection will now operate through a standardized, automated digital platform, minimizing errors, reducing operational overhead, and promoting a transparent financial ecosystem. Users will be able to make payments directly from their mobile devices, track transaction history in real time, and receive instant confirmation of successful payments.

From a governance perspective, the project enhances the ability of AJK authorities to monitor collections, identify gaps in service delivery, and ensure that revenues are efficiently allocated for water infrastructure maintenance and development. By embedding digital tools into public utility operations, the partnership supports long-term improvements in service quality and accountability.

This collaboration also underscores Zindigi’s role in driving fintech adoption across Pakistan, demonstrating how technology can streamline routine financial interactions while supporting broader social and economic objectives. By combining secure QR-enabled payments with user-friendly interfaces, the platform is designed to reach a wide demographic, including communities that previously had limited access to formal financial systems.

Furthermore, the initiative sets a precedent for digitizing other public utility services in AJK and across Pakistan. The model could be extended to electricity, gas, and municipal service payments, creating an integrated digital ecosystem that enhances financial transparency, reduces leakage, and fosters greater public trust in government services.

Overall, the partnership between Zindigi and the AJK government represents a significant step toward modernizing public service delivery through digital innovation. By enabling secure, real-time water bill payments via Raast QR, the initiative provides citizens with convenience, strengthens institutional oversight, and contributes to the broader goal of building a more inclusive and technologically empowered financial ecosystem in Pakistan.
