The Insurance Association of Pakistan (IAP) has elected its new Executive Committee for the 2026-28 term, with Kamran Arshad Inam appointed as Chairman, Azeem Iqbal Pirani as Senior Vice Chairman and Adnan Waheed as Vice Chairman. The new leadership will formally assume its roles from October 1, 2026, according to the association’s announcement issued in Karachi on September 30. The newly elected committee brings together representatives from several major insurance and takaful companies operating in Pakistan, reflecting the association’s role as a representative platform for the country’s insurance sector. IAP represents companies involved in life, general insurance and takaful and works with industry stakeholders on matters affecting the sector. The association was established in 1948 and is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan as a Section 42 trade association.
Kamran Arshad Inam, who serves as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of EFU General Insurance Limited, will lead the association as Chairman during the new term. His appointment follows his involvement in the industry’s representative activities and recent participation in discussions concerning the future of Pakistan’s insurance market. Inam was among the insurance industry leaders featured at the IAP and Pakistan Society of Actuaries International Insurance Conference 2026, where he participated in a panel examining market growth, regulatory developments, reinsurance, technology and risk management. His appointment places him at the head of the industry association as insurers continue to engage on issues related to market development and the regulatory environment.
Azeem Iqbal Pirani has been elected Senior Vice Chairman, while Adnan Waheed has been elected Vice Chairman. The remaining members of the Executive Committee are Azfar Arshad Inam, Faisal Khan, Faisal Mumtaz, Muhammad Faisal Siddiqui, Muhammad Iftikhar Javed, Nasar us Samad Qureshi, Saqib Zeeshan and Sohail Fakhar. The committee includes representatives associated with organisations including EFU General Insurance, EFU Life Assurance, Alfalah Insurance, Jubilee General Insurance, IGI General Insurance, State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan, Sindh Insurance, Adamjee Life Assurance, 5th Pillar Family Takaful, Pak-Qatar General Takaful and Jubilee Life Insurance. The composition brings representatives from both insurance and takaful businesses into the association’s governing structure.
The new committee begins its 2026-28 term at a time when the insurance sector is engaging with policymakers and regulators on taxation, regulation, technology, risk management and broader market development. In May 2026, the IAP held consultations with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on matters related to the insurance sector and the Federal Budget 2026-27, with the association presenting proposals covering taxation and regulatory considerations. The association has also recently hosted industry discussions involving insurers, actuaries, regulators and other stakeholders on insurance market development, resilience and emerging technologies. With the new executive committee now in place, the IAP will continue representing the common interests of insurance and takaful companies while engaging with government institutions and other stakeholders on sector-related matters.
