Yango Pakistan Launches Sharia Compliant Pay Later Fintech Service for Online Shopping

Yango Pakistan, part of the global technology company Yango Group, has launched a Sharia-compliant fintech service called Pay Later in Pakistan. The service is designed to give customers greater flexibility when shopping while providing merchants with another payment option that can help make purchases more accessible at checkout. The launch represents Yango Pakistan’s first fintech offering and expands the company’s local digital ecosystem beyond its existing technology and mobility-related services. Under the Pay Later model, customers can divide eligible purchases into equal payments, allowing them to spread the cost of a purchase over multiple installments rather than paying the full amount at the time of checkout.

Pay Later is initially being introduced as a pilot service through the websites of selected partner merchants. Customers using the participating online stores can split eligible purchases into equal payments that are made every two weeks. Participating merchants can also be found through the Shop section of the Yango SuperApp, giving customers another way to discover retailers offering the service. The initial merchant network includes Habitt, Sana Safinaz, Bagallery, Ego, Walkeaze and Scent N Secrets, among others. Yango Pakistan plans to expand the network to more than 100 online retailers operating across categories such as fashion, beauty, home goods and electronics by the end of the year.

The Pay Later model has undergone a Sharia review by Dr. Muhammad Imran Ashraf Usmani of Usmani & Co. Shariah Advisors (Pvt.) Ltd. According to the company, the review concluded that the structure and operating principles of the service comply with Sharia requirements. Yango Fintech said that Sharia principles were incorporated into the product structure from the beginning, with the service specifically designed for the Pakistani market. This makes the service part of the growing range of digital financial products being developed around local consumer and business requirements.

Miral Sharif, Country Head at Yango Pakistan, said partnerships are central to the company ecosystem and that Pay Later extends this approach into fintech. She said the service is intended to help merchants reach new customers while providing additional value to shoppers. Ali Hussain, Head of Sales at Yango Fintech in Pakistan, said Pay Later gives merchants another way to make purchases more accessible to customers and support conversion at checkout. He added that the product was developed for the Pakistani market with Sharia principles incorporated into its structure from the outset.

The launch places Yango Pakistan into the local digital finance and online retail ecosystem through an installment-based payment service. For participating customers, the model provides the option to divide eligible purchases into scheduled payments every two weeks, while merchants receive an additional payment mechanism for their online stores. The pilot phase will allow Yango Pakistan to work with participating merchants and customers before expanding the service to a larger retailer network. The company’s planned expansion across fashion, beauty, home goods and electronics could extend Pay Later to a wider range of online shopping transactions.
