National Bank of Pakistan Enacts Raast QR Payments for Motorway Police Licensing Fees

The National Bank of Pakistan has reached a significant milestone in its ongoing mission to digitize the public sector by onboarding the National Highways and Motorway Police for Raast QR based licensing fee collections. This strategic partnership was solidified during a formal signing ceremony, marking a pivotal shift toward modernizing how citizens interact with government law enforcement agencies for administrative tasks. By integrating the Raast instant payment system, the National Bank of Pakistan is enabling an on the spot and entirely cashless payment mechanism for licensing services. This initiative is designed to replace traditional, often cumbersome payment methods with a streamlined digital solution that prioritizes speed and security for the general public.

The core objective of this collaboration is to bring greater convenience to citizens while simultaneously enhancing the collection efficiency and financial transparency of the National Highways and Motorway Police. Through the use of Raast QR codes, motorists can now settle their licensing fees immediately using their mobile banking applications. This eliminates the need for physical cash handling by officials and reduces the time spent by citizens at processing centers. For the law enforcement agency, the integration provides a real time accounting of funds, ensuring that every transaction is recorded accurately and instantly within the national financial ecosystem, thereby reducing the risks associated with manual revenue collection.

This digital initiative was spearheaded by a dedicated team at the National Bank of Pakistan, led by Mr. Ahmad Ali Athar Wing, who serves as the Head of the Digital Banking Group North. The project was further supervised by Mr. Farhan Durrani, Senior Vice President of the Digital Banking Group. The official agreement was signed by Mr. Muhammad Saqib, the Regional Head for Islamabad at NBP, and Mr. Shahbaz Alam, Superintendent of Police for the National Highways and Motorway Police. The ceremony was attended by several senior officials from both organizations, including Mr. Imran Gull, General Manager Islamabad at NBP, and Mr. Asghar Ali Yousafzai, Deputy Inspector General of the National Highways and Motorway Police, reflecting a high level of institutional commitment to this digital overhaul.

The adoption of Raast QR technology by the National Highways and Motorway Police is viewed as a major step forward in the broader digital transformation of Pakistan public institutions. As the state owned bank, the National Bank of Pakistan is leveraging its extensive network and technical infrastructure to drive the adoption of State Bank of Pakistan digital payment initiatives. This specific engagement reinforces the leadership of the bank in providing sophisticated digital payment solutions that cater to the unique needs of government departments. By moving away from paper based processes, the partnership sets a new standard for how technology can be used to improve the governance and service delivery of essential public institutions.

Looking ahead, this collaboration opens numerous avenues for further technological and financial integration between the two entities. Beyond the collection of driving license fees through Raast QR codes on a countrywide scale, the partnership is expected to explore broader financial services, including employee banking solutions for the police force and other tailored digital financial products. This proactive approach to public sector digitization not only simplifies the life of the common citizen but also strengthens the national economy by ensuring that government revenues are channeled through official digital conduits. The commitment shown by both NBP and NHMP senior management highlights a shared vision of a more transparent and digitally inclusive Pakistan.
