Soneri Bank Teams Up with Euronet Pakistan to Modernize Credit Card and Payments Business

Soneri Bank Limited, one of Pakistan’s leading financial institutions, has entered into a strategic partnership with Euronet Pakistan, a division of NASDAQ-listed Euronet Worldwide and a global leader in secure electronic transaction processing. The collaboration is set to transform Soneri Bank’s credit card and acquiring business, providing a fully managed and outsourced services model that aligns with the Bank’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

Through this partnership, Euronet Pakistan will deliver an end-to-end card and payments platform, supporting credit card issuance and point-of-sale (POS) acquiring. The platform is designed with future-ready capabilities, enabling Soneri Bank to expand its broader digital payments ecosystem. Hosted on Euronet’s PCI DSS-compliant infrastructure at state-of-the-art data centers in Pakistan, the solution promises high availability, guaranteed service levels, and robust data security that meets global standards.

The agreement also includes advanced services such as tokenization and Google Pay enablement, allowing Soneri Bank to provide customers with secure, contactless payment options. These capabilities aim to create a seamless omnichannel payment experience across digital and physical touchpoints, reinforcing the Bank’s position as a pioneer in Pakistan’s evolving banking sector.

By leveraging Euronet’s managed services model, Soneri Bank will gain agility in launching new products, reduce operational complexity, and improve scalability. This arrangement allows the Bank to concentrate on customer-centric innovation while Euronet manages the underlying technological infrastructure and operational processes.

The signing ceremony brought together senior leadership from both organizations. Representing Soneri Bank were CEO Muhtashim Ashai, DCEO Ahsan Mushahid, CIO Muhammad Salman, and CD&IO Syed Amir Raza. Euronet Pakistan was represented by CEO Kashif Gaya, Head of Development and Operations Dawer Khan, and Head of Business Development Faisal Amin.

Speaking at the event, Muhtashim Ashai, CEO of Soneri Bank, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership. He stated that collaborating with Euronet will allow the Bank to leverage global expertise in managing large-scale card portfolios and acquiring solutions, ultimately delivering secure, innovative, and convenient payment experiences for customers.

Kashif Gaya, CEO of Euronet Pakistan, expressed enthusiasm for the long-term partnership, highlighting a shared vision to advance Pakistan’s digital payments landscape through scalable, secure, and innovative technology. He noted that Euronet is committed to supporting Soneri Bank as it expands card programs and digital initiatives across the country.

The collaboration underscores both organizations’ commitment to digital financial inclusion and the development of Pakistan’s payments infrastructure. By integrating Euronet’s global technology and operational excellence, Soneri Bank is positioned to enhance its digital payments services, introduce cutting-edge products, and meet the growing needs of consumers and merchants in an increasingly digital economy.
