State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is set to celebrate Women Entrepreneurship Day (WED) on November 19, 2024, with a ceremony inaugurated by Governor Mr. Jameel Ahmad at the SBP headquarters. This significant event aims to bring together leading officials from both banking and non-banking institutions, as well as representatives from women’s working associations, to honor the substantial contributions of women entrepreneurs to the economy.
Among the various activities planned for the day, SBP will present awards to high-performing banks that have demonstrated a commitment to extending loans to female borrowers. Additionally, accolades will be given to women-led businesses across multiple categories, highlighting their exceptional achievements in the entrepreneurial sector.
The celebration will encompass both in-person and virtual events throughout Pakistan, with commercial banks partnering to develop tailored financial products for women-led enterprises. Initiatives will include workshops, awareness campaigns on SBP SME financing, and mentorship programs aimed at empowering aspiring businesswomen and improving their loan eligibility.
WED is part of a global initiative designed to recognize and support women who drive innovation, create jobs, and contribute significantly to economic growth. Despite their vital role, many women still face challenges in accessing financing and business opportunities. Through this event, the SBP and its partners aim to inspire more women to embrace entrepreneurship and thrive in today’s competitive landscape.
