Mercury to Close Pakistani Business Accounts by August 2024

Mercury announced it will be closing business accounts for companies in Pakistan, along with some other countries, effective August 22, 2024. The company communicated this change to a Pakistani CEO, explaining that their account rules have been updated and they can no longer support these accounts after the specified date.

In response to the disruption this will cause, Mercury has provided a series of steps for affected businesses to manage the transition. Businesses are advised to move their money to another bank using ACH, check, or wire options.

If any funds remain after the account closure, Mercury will send a check to a U.S. address. All transactions should be completed before August 22, as any transactions after this date will not be processed. Companies should transfer their recurring payments to another bank and inform their vendors of the change. Account statements will remain accessible online after the closure, but downloading them in advance is recommended for convenience.

Mercury has assured businesses of their support during this period and can be contacted for assistance via email at support@mercury.com or hello@mercury.com. Mercury had previously ceased new signups for Pakistani business owners prior to 2022. For further help, affected parties are encouraged to reach out to Mercury directly.
