Meezan Bank has been honored with the EFP Icon Award in the Financial Category by the Employers’ Federation of Pakistan (EFP) during the federation’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration Ceremony held at Governor House Karachi. The recognition was presented in acknowledgement of the bank’s contribution to the financial sector and its focus on responsible banking. According to Meezan Bank, the award was received on behalf of the institution by Khalid Zaman Khan, SEVP and Group Head – Human Resources & General Services. The award was presented by Sindh Governor Syed Nehal Hashmi in the presence of International Labour Organization (ILO) Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo and EFP President Majid Aziz. The recognition adds to Meezan Bank’s list of industry and institutional awards and comes as the bank continues to operate as one of Pakistan’s major Islamic banking institutions. Meezan Bank’s latest annual report also records a range of national and international recognitions received by the bank for its banking, Islamic finance and corporate performance.
The EFP recognition places particular attention on Meezan Bank’s role within Pakistan’s financial sector, while the bank has continued to build its operations around Shariah-compliant banking products and services. Meezan Bank’s annual report states that the institution completed 28 years of operations in 2025 and had expanded its presence across retail, corporate, commercial, consumer and digital banking. The bank also reported that it had been recognized as Best Bank at the Pakistan Banking Awards in 2025, marking its fifth win and third consecutive year receiving the award. It was also named Best Bank of the Year – Large Size Banks by the CFA Society of Pakistan for the sixth consecutive year, alongside recognition as Islamic Bank of the Year. These earlier awards provide broader context for the EFP Icon Award, although the latest recognition is specifically attributed to the Employers’ Federation of Pakistan and its Financial Category.
Meezan Bank has also continued to expand its digital banking and financial services capabilities alongside its conventional branch-based operations. Its 2025 annual report lists Digital Banking as a dedicated function within the bank’s organizational structure, while its product portfolio includes Shariah-compliant deposit products, financing, consumer banking, corporate and investment banking, treasury and capital markets, and other financial services. The bank’s digital channels have also been part of its broader service strategy, with the institution reporting continued investment in digital banking solutions and alternative distribution channels. In addition, Meezan Bank’s financial ecosystem includes its subsidiaries Al Meezan Investment Management and Meezan Exchange Company, allowing the wider group to operate across banking, investment management and foreign-exchange-related services. The bank has also received previous recognition for digital banking and technology initiatives, including awards related to digital banking services and financial technology within its broader awards history.
The latest EFP Icon Award therefore adds another institutional recognition to Meezan Bank’s established record of awards across banking, Islamic finance, corporate performance and financial services. The recognition was presented at a ceremony marking the Employers’ Federation of Pakistan’s Platinum Jubilee, bringing together representatives from the business community, government and international organizations. Meezan Bank said the award reflects its continued commitment to excellence, responsible banking and its contribution to Pakistan’s financial and economic landscape. For the banking sector, such institutional recognitions also highlight the growing importance of governance, responsible business practices and sustained contributions to the wider economy alongside financial performance. Meezan Bank’s recent awards record shows that the institution continues to receive recognition from multiple industry bodies, including banking, finance and business organizations, while maintaining its focus on Shariah-compliant financial services in Pakistan.
