Karandaaz extends deadline for Offline Payments Innovation Challenge to September 15, 2025

Karandaaz Pakistan has announced an extension of the application deadline for its Offline Payments Innovation Challenge, now allowing innovators, startups, and fintech companies until September 15, 2025 to submit their solutions. The initiative is designed to promote practical, technology-driven approaches to enabling secure and scalable digital payments in areas with low or no internet connectivity, further advancing the country’s journey toward building a cashless economy under the national digital financial inclusion agenda.

The challenge specifically targets solutions that can work seamlessly in offline or partially connected environments, ranging from remote rural areas with poor connectivity to urban spaces such as basements or enclosed environments where network signals are limited. Karandaaz has emphasized that all proposed solutions must align with the State Bank of Pakistan’s Raast infrastructure, ensuring interoperability, security, and scalability as part of the national payment ecosystem.

By extending the deadline, Karandaaz is providing additional time for innovators and enterprises to refine their submissions and demonstrate practical use cases for offline payments. The organization has expressed its commitment to supporting technologies that will address one of the most pressing challenges in Pakistan’s digital payments landscape: how to ensure uninterrupted access to financial services across diverse geographic and connectivity conditions.

This innovation challenge has been positioned as a unique opportunity for startups, fintechs, and technology providers to contribute to Pakistan’s vision of becoming a digital nation. Offline payment solutions are viewed as critical for boosting financial inclusion, particularly for underserved and unbanked populations that often live in areas where mobile and internet coverage is either unreliable or unavailable. The ability to execute secure transactions without connectivity can significantly accelerate the adoption of digital payments at the grassroots level.

Karandaaz Pakistan has long been a central player in driving digital financial services innovation in the country. Through programs like this challenge, the organization is not only addressing existing infrastructure gaps but also creating a platform for the private sector to introduce solutions that have the potential to scale nationally. Industry experts note that offline payments could be a game-changer for the financial sector by bridging the digital divide, expanding access, and fostering trust in digital transactions across all segments of society.

The extended deadline reflects Karandaaz’s recognition of the complexity of developing such solutions and its aim to maximize participation from innovators who are working on groundbreaking ideas. Startups and companies now have until mid-September to submit their applications and become part of an initiative that could redefine how digital transactions are executed in Pakistan.

The challenge is not only about creating technology but also about building systems that are sustainable, user-friendly, and capable of integrating into the broader digital financial ecosystem. By focusing on practical innovation, Karandaaz is signaling its intent to encourage solutions that can move from pilot phases into widespread adoption, ensuring real impact on the ground.

With this move, Karandaaz has once again reinforced its position as a catalyst for financial technology innovation in Pakistan. As the deadline extension opens the door for more participants, the Offline Payments Innovation Challenge stands as a significant step toward realizing Pakistan’s ambition of a fully digital, inclusive, and resilient financial landscape.
