In a strategic move aimed at accelerating digital merchant payments and driving retail transaction convenience, Pakistan’s leading digital financial services provider, JazzCash, has successfully deployed its Raast QR payment solution across more than 450 Shell service stations throughout the country. This extensive retail integration allows millions of mobile wallet users to execute fuel purchase transactions seamlessly through instant, secure scanning, reducing reliance on paper currency and credit cards at fuel courts nationwide.
To mark the collaborative rollout and cement this long-term corporate relationship, the executive leadership team of JazzCash recently participated in a highly publicized relaunch ceremony of modernized Shell service stations held in Lahore. The digital financial institution was formally represented at the industry event by Arif M Chaudhary, Head of Public Sector Partnerships, alongside Umair Ali Khan, Head of Enterprise Business. They were accompanied by key senior personnel from the fintech company’s regional deployment and operations teams, who are managing the on-ground execution.
The widespread implementation of the State Bank of Pakistan’s interoperable Raast payment infrastructure across major fuel retail footprints represents a critical step forward for the local merchant ecosystem. By integrating the instantaneous payment processing capabilities of the national Raast platform with the massive consumer base of the country’s largest mobile financial wallet, both corporations are providing motorists with an immediate transaction mechanism. This initiative mitigates common point-of-sale friction points such as exact cash handling, card processor downtime, and delayed transaction approvals, thereby optimizing operations at busy fueling centers.
Looking ahead, both commercial organizations have confirmed that this initial deployment forms the foundation of a much deeper, multi-phased commercial partnership. The technical and commercial teams of both organizations are actively collaborating to steadily expand the footprint of Raast QR code acceptance into Shell’s comprehensive non-fuel retail networks, including on-station convenience stores, automotive maintenance hubs, and select quick-service restaurant partnerships.
Furthermore, plans are underway to integrate JazzCash’s broader enterprise product suite and institutional financial services into the downstream petroleum retail network. This ongoing development will give retail customers, franchise operators, and transit suppliers access to automated payment collections, supply chain digital financing, and customizable loyalty incentives. By transforming fuel pumps into fully integrated digital payment hubs, this cross-industry collaboration sets a progressive benchmark for the rapid adoption of instant digital commerce across Pakistan’s fast-moving retail landscapes.
