More than 13,000 Hajj pilgrims have deposited over Rs8.7 billion through Pakistan’s newly introduced Hajj Digital Portal and other available payment channels, highlighting the growing use of digital financial services in the Hajj process. According to the latest update, 13,260 pilgrims have collectively deposited more than Rs8.703 billion since the payment of the first installment of Hajj dues began.
Digital payment channels have accounted for a significant portion of the transactions. A total of 2,006 payments were completed through bank cards, while 4,615 transactions were processed through 1LINK PSID. Pilgrims have also been provided with the option of paying through manual bank challans, giving applicants multiple channels to complete their financial obligations.
Habib Bank has processed 6,761 Hajj payments through digital challans, while payments for 7,000 pilgrims under the Short Hajj Scheme have also been completed. The figures demonstrate how digital payment infrastructure is increasingly being incorporated into government-led financial services, allowing large numbers of citizens to complete payments without depending entirely on conventional over-the-counter processes.
The development follows the government’s broader push to digitise the Hajj process for 2027. Under the new approach, pilgrims will be able to complete applications from home, pay their dues digitally and access other Hajj-related services through the Pak Hajj App and Hajj Portal. The initiative is aimed at reducing long queues, unnecessary travel and waiting times for pilgrims.
The government has allocated 107,526 seats for the Hajj 2027 Government Scheme, with the 40-day package priced at Rs1.2 million and the 20-to-25-day package at Rs1.3 million. The increasing use of digital payments for Hajj dues reflects a wider shift toward technology-enabled public services, with digital portals, bank cards and interoperable payment infrastructure being used to make government transactions more accessible and convenient.
