Bank Alfalah Promotes Financial Literacy with IBA

Bank Alfalah and The Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi have announced a partnership to promote financial literacy and journalism education.

Bank Alfalah will provide scholarships to five students pursuing the Master of Science in Journalism (MSJ) degree at IBA and sponsor workshops for twelve content creators. The program aims to equip journalists with the skills to investigate and report on financial issues and empower individuals with financial literacy knowledge.

Dr. Asma Hyder, Dean of the School of Economics and Social Sciences at IBA, emphasized the importance of journalism for an informed society and the role of the MSJ program in equipping students with the necessary skills.

Capacity building is crucial for journalists in Pakistan’s financial sector to ensure accurate and responsible reporting. The program will provide journalists with specialized knowledge and skills to effectively understand and convey financial information.

The partnership will also contribute to financial inclusion, which is essential for Pakistan’s economic growth and poverty reduction. By empowering individuals with financial literacy, the program aims to increase access to formal financial services and promote responsible financial practices.

Madiha Javed Qureshi, Head of Corporate Communication at Bank Alfalah, highlighted the bank’s commitment to nurturing a skilled and informed workforce and contributing to the nation’s financial well-being.

This partnership will enhance journalism education, increase financial literacy, and foster a broader public awareness of financial issues.
