ZTBL and LIMS Collaborate for Agricultural Digitization

Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) and the Land Information Management System (LIMS) have forged a groundbreaking partnership to revolutionize agricultural services through digitization. This collaboration aims to empower farmers with comprehensive and real-time agricultural information tailored to their individual lands.

In a ceremony held at the LIMS headquarters, the President/CEO of ZTBL, Mr. Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti, and the Director General of Strategic Projects, Maj Gen Shahid Nazir, formalized the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Under this agreement, ZTBL’s mobile credit officers (MCOs), customers, and farmers will gain access to a suite of invaluable services via the LIMS Portal. These services include climate change data, satellite crop monitoring, irrigation details, fertilizer recommendations, targeted spraying zones, direct market access, and comprehensive land and soil condition reports spanning over a decade.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in Pakistan, with the primary goal of empowering farmers, particularly subsistence growers, to transition to modern and scientifically driven agricultural practices. The provision of accurate and timely information is expected to bolster the nation’s economy significantly.

During the ceremony, Mr. Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti emphasized the critical role of agriculture in Pakistan’s cultural heritage and future prosperity. He underscored the importance of equipping farmers with cutting-edge digital tools to enhance productivity and contribute to the country’s GDP.

Maj Gen Shahid Nazir echoed these sentiments, highlighting the historic significance of the partnership. He expressed confidence that ZTBL, as the leading specialized agriculture financing bank, would leverage the LIMS portal to address food security challenges effectively in Pakistan.
