Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to digitize the collection of Cargo Throughput Charges on import consignments arriving in Pakistan by air. The initiative will integrate cargo charge payments into the PSW platform, connecting Pakistan’s digital trade infrastructure with the country’s air cargo ecosystem.
Under the new system, manual and paper-based procedures will be replaced with electronic payments, automated document verification and real-time visibility of Cargo Throughput Charge collections. The digital process is expected to reduce physical interactions, bank visits and queues at airports while making cargo-related transactions more transparent and efficient for businesses involved in international trade.
The digital Cargo Throughput Charge collection process is scheduled to launch at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on August 27, 2026. Following the initial implementation, the system will be expanded to other Air Freight Units across Pakistan, extending digital processing capabilities to a wider portion of the country’s air cargo network.
The collaboration represents another step in Pakistan’s broader digital transformation of trade and logistics processes. By integrating payments and verification into a single digital platform, PSW and PAA aim to simplify cargo procedures, improve operational efficiency and support more seamless cross-border trade for importers and other stakeholders.
