ABHI Microfinance Bank Reaches PKR 500 Million Merchant Financing Milestone Through DigiKhata

ABHI Microfinance Bank has crossed a merchant financing milestone of PKR 500 million through its collaboration with DigiKhata, supporting online merchants with access to real-time digital credit. The milestone was achieved by July 31, 2026, as the two companies continue expanding financing options for Pakistan’s e-commerce sector. The initiative is designed to provide merchants with financing directly within the digital commerce journey, allowing them to access credit when they need additional working capital for their businesses.

The partnership between ABHI Microfinance Bank and DigiKhata focuses on embedding digital credit into the e-commerce checkout process. According to the companies, the solution enables online merchants to access financing without relying on collateral-heavy borrowing arrangements. This approach is intended to make credit more accessible to merchants who need funds to restock inventory, fulfil orders and manage day-to-day business requirements. By integrating financing into the checkout experience, merchants can access credit as part of their regular online commerce activities.

The PKR 500 million milestone represents the financing book generated through the merchant financing initiative. The companies have set a further target of reaching PKR 1 billion in merchant financing by December 2026. This means the current financing book would need to double over the remaining period to meet the target. The expansion reflects the growing focus on digital lending solutions that can provide financing to small and online businesses through technology-driven processes rather than relying entirely on conventional lending models.

For online merchants, access to timely working capital can be important for maintaining inventory and responding to customer demand. Traditional financing can involve documentation, collateral requirements and longer processing times, which may create challenges for smaller businesses. Digital lending solutions can potentially reduce some of these barriers by connecting financing with existing digital business activity. The ABHI and DigiKhata initiative places this financing directly within the e-commerce ecosystem, allowing merchants to seek credit while managing their online sales operations.

The development also highlights the increasing connection between fintech, digital lending and e-commerce in Pakistan. As more businesses conduct sales through online channels, financial service providers are developing products specifically designed around the requirements of digital merchants. Merchant financing can help businesses manage cash flow, purchase inventory and continue fulfilling orders without waiting for existing sales cycles to generate additional working capital.

ABHI Microfinance Bank said the milestone reflects the merchants who have used the financing facility, while DigiKhata continues to support digital lending for Pakistan’s e-commerce sector. With PKR 500 million already achieved and a target of PKR 1 billion by December 2026, the initiative is expected to continue expanding its reach among online merchants. The collaboration demonstrates how digital credit can be integrated into e-commerce platforms to provide financing options tailored to the operational needs of merchants.
