PDA Discusses Digital Finance Capital Markets and Asset Tokenisation With Finance Minister

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met Pakistan Digital Authority Chairperson Dr. Sohail Munir to discuss digital transformation, digital finance and the role of technology in widening access to financial services. The meeting focused on developing an enabling digital environment that can support greater use of technology across financial and economic activities.

The discussion highlighted the need for existing regulatory and policy frameworks to evolve alongside advances in digital technology. The participants discussed frameworks that recognise electronic transactions and encourage the adoption of digital processes across trade and financial activities, with the broader objective of making financial services more accessible and efficient.

Improving access to finance through digital platforms was another key area of discussion. The Finance Minister stressed the importance of simplifying customer onboarding and improving interoperability of financial data, including closer integration between banks and capital markets. Greater connectivity between these financial systems could support more efficient processes and improve access to financial services.

The meeting also covered digital infrastructure for the delivery of public and financial services, along with digital assets and tokenisation. Potential applications of tokenisation in real estate and other investment assets were discussed, highlighting the growing relevance of digital technologies in Pakistan’s financial and investment ecosystem.

The Finance Minister appreciated the work being undertaken by the Pakistan Digital Authority and emphasised the importance of prioritising high-impact digital initiatives. Both sides also discussed continued coordination with relevant stakeholders to advance digital finance, capital market integration and technology-enabled financial services in Pakistan.
