UBL Launches Mobile Banking Unit to Facilitate Livestock Traders at Karachi Maveshi Mandi

United Bank Limited has announced a new initiative titled UBL On Wheels to bring formal financial services directly to the public during the high volume trading season of Eid ul Azha. This project features a fully operational mobile banking unit designed to provide banking without boundaries by operating at the heart of Karachi’s bustling Maveshi Mandi. As one of the largest livestock markets in the region, the mandi experiences a massive influx of cash transactions and a high demand for secure financial processing. By deploying a bank on wheels, the institution aims to offer fast, secure, and hassle free services to both cattle traders and buyers who traditionally rely on physical cash in these temporary marketplaces.

The mobile banking unit is equipped with modern technology to ensure that all standard banking activities can be performed on site with the same level of security found at a traditional brick and mortar branch. This initiative is part of a larger trend in the Pakistani banking sector to utilize digital and mobile infrastructure to reach customers in non traditional locations. By providing a physical presence in the livestock market, the bank is helping to mitigate the risks associated with carrying large amounts of cash in crowded areas. Traders can now deposit their earnings immediately, while buyers have access to banking facilities to manage their funds efficiently during the festive season.

In addition to providing basic transactional support, the mobile unit serves as a touchpoint for promoting digital payment solutions among the merchant community. Many livestock sellers travel from rural areas where access to formal banking may be limited, and this deployment provides an opportunity for financial inclusion and education. The bank is focusing on ensuring that the user experience is seamless, allowing for quick processing times to accommodate the fast paced nature of the market. This proactive approach by the bank demonstrates a commitment to adaptive service delivery, ensuring that financial infrastructure keeps pace with seasonal economic activities and consumer needs.

The launch of the mobile unit also aligns with the broader goals of the State Bank of Pakistan to modernize the payments ecosystem and encourage the use of formal channels for large scale trade. By facilitating onsite banking, the bank is supporting the documented economy and providing a safer environment for high value commerce. The mobile branch is staffed with trained professionals capable of assisting customers with a variety of needs, from account inquiries to digital transfers. This physical mobility represents a significant shift in how commercial banks in Pakistan are viewing customer outreach and service availability in the digital age.

To maintain transparency and ensure consumer protection, the bank continues to emphasize the importance of regulatory compliance and grievance redressal. Customers who utilize these mobile services are encouraged to provide feedback or report any concerns through official channels. For any banking complaints that cannot be resolved on site, users are directed to the Sunwai portal managed by the State Bank of Pakistan. This ensures that even while banking on the move, customers remain protected by the national regulatory framework. The deployment of the mobile unit in Karachi is expected to set a precedent for how financial institutions manage high demand events across the country in the future.
