Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA Pakistan) to expand collaboration between academia and the financial industry. The partnership aims to increase financial literacy and provide students and young professionals with greater exposure to Pakistan’s regulated financial and commodity markets. The agreement is intended to create opportunities for knowledge sharing and professional engagement while helping students develop a better understanding of how financial and commodity markets operate.
The MoU was signed by Aamir Ijaz Khan, Executive Director of ICMA Pakistan, and Zaki Ur Rehman, Chief Business Officer at PMEX. The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from both organizations, including Asim Husain Khan, Senior Director Members’ Professional Development and Corporate Trainings at ICMA Pakistan, Shams Bhimani, Head of Job Placements and Industrial Linkages at ICMA Pakistan, Sobia Ashraf, Head of Marketing at PMEX, and Arif Ahmed, Assistant General Manager Marketing at PMEX.
Under the agreement, PMEX and ICMA Pakistan will collaborate on financial education and awareness initiatives aimed at students, professionals and potential market participants. The organizations plan to conduct awareness sessions, facilitate knowledge-sharing activities and create opportunities for professional development. The collaboration will also focus on industry engagement, job placements and industrial linkages, giving students opportunities to connect academic knowledge with practical requirements in the financial sector.
The partnership is also expected to increase awareness of regulated financial and commodity markets among young professionals. Through educational activities and direct engagement with industry participants, students can gain greater familiarity with areas such as capital markets and futures trading. Such exposure can help bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional requirements while giving emerging finance professionals a clearer understanding of potential career opportunities within Pakistan’s financial market ecosystem.
For PMEX, the agreement forms part of its efforts to promote market awareness and financial education. For ICMA Pakistan, the collaboration provides an opportunity to connect its academic and professional community more closely with a regulated financial market institution. By combining educational resources with industry expertise, both organizations aim to contribute to the development of financially informed professionals and increase awareness of Pakistan’s financial and commodity markets. The collaboration is expected to support continued engagement between academia and industry through education, professional development and employment-related initiatives.
